Yes that is possible but it could be something else too. Even spark plugs that are borderline, or dirt in the fuel line. You may have to wait until you get a code for a specific cylinder to proceed.

Code 300 means there are more than one cylinder that is not producing the expected amount of power. But yet enough to keep from setting specific cylinder codes.

I had a code P0304. I bought my 04 Trailblazer used and decided to replace all coils and spark plugs. Pretty easy task, but ended up with a code P0300. I went back to check my work and found two coil connections not seated properly. I made sure all the connections were locked in place. Runs like a champ!

Code 300 means you have a random miss that is not serious enough to pick one cylinder. The computer measures RPM on each cylinder as the plug fires. So it is not that a cylinder is not firing but rather that it is not producing enough power.
Other causes are vac leaks and lack of fuel.

SOURCE: 05 Colorado - New Spark Plugs, Rough Idle

Sounds like you got two wires mixed up. Check your firing order. If not that, then you dropped a spark plug and flattened the gap. If it's a V6 the firing order is 165432. If it's an 8, it's 18726543.

SOURCE: Engine misfire, EGR replaced still rough idle!

First, check the passageway to the egr valve to make sure it is clear (often plugs up with carbon) second, make sure that the egr control is working. Also a good idea to have any codes checked and old ones cleared.Computer may need to cycle a few times to "learn"new parameters.
In general, it is good to shut down your engine when check engine light comes on...The next step after that is to determine why the light came on.
If the cause is an oil related or coolant related item, you should drive no further 'till it's corrected...However, there are numerous sensors that can turn it on with no disasterous results if you continue to drive One example is the light coming on because a gas cap has not been put on correctly...On many vehicles this will turn on the light and set a code, but the car will suffer no damage if you drove to your destination before correcting it.So, if the light comes on and it is not overheating and you have good oil pressure, and you hear no noises from engine, have it looked at but don't put yourself in danger on the side of a major highway for a nonsense code.
Most major parts houses will read codes free...take advantage of that service and get yourself a basic repair manual, so you have an idea what all the stuff under your hood is and does.
Good luck with your car!!

SOURCE: service engine light blinks, code read out of po300

Code p0300 is the code for "random missfire detected". The "check engine" light is flashing to warn you that severe damage is being done to the catalytic converter.(very expensive)..

SOURCE: I HAVE A 2001 CAVALIER

The P0172 code is a rich code most likely caused by the P0300. The P0300 is a random/multiple cylinder misfire code. Replace the plugs and wires.

Pull the vac hose going to fuel pressure regulator and see if it has fuel in it. If it does replace it. Just fixed one with multiple misfire codes.

Make sure you know where the coolant is leaking from and do not let it run to low and overheat. If the check engine light is only flashing and not staying on steady this signifies a soft code or pending code. So this issue must've just started I assume. A PO300 code means it has a multiple cylinder misfire.

Be aware that overheating as well as misfiring are the biggest reasons for a catalytic converter to plug. Just another reason to remedy the situation as soon as possible.

WHY DID CHECK ENGINE LIGHT START FLASHING THEN STAYS SOLID?

Get the codes read, that's the only way you're going to find out what is going on with the vehicle. You don't have to have the dealer do it, all repair shops have code readers, along with most auto parts stores and some of the oil change places can do it also. With as computerized as the cars are now, when the CEL comes on you what to read the codes.

Check engine light is on, any speed above 30mph it gives a flashing check engine light, acceleration feels bogged down, engine idle is rough and shakes the truck

I'm guessing you have over 100000 miles , definitely replace all the spark plugs and ignition cables and cap and rotor if your motor is such equipped. If you want a better idea of which cylinders are misfiring, go to your local Checker or Autozone and ask them for code retrieval, codes stored will give you an idea of what is failing. Code po300 is multiple misfire, po301 is cyl #1, po302 is cyl #2 and so forth.

2005 ranger rough idle, flashing engine light & strong exhaust

first of all a flashing check engine light indicates STOP as soon as possible SAFELY.. as for if you continue to drive damage to catalytic converter may occur. Have you had codes pulled yet ? start there the codes wont tell you wrong exactly but will give you problem area to start checking out. check for data link connection. make sure it can communicate with scan tool. commonly on fords is the ecm fuse is in same power supply line as cigarette lighter.( you figure Huh.) if fuse is blown it affects ecm power supply and causes drivability issues. and fuse is labled cigarette lighter fuse and Not ECM power supply. hope this helps if not pull codes and repost more info i get the more i can help . good luck
