Rear Brakes 2003 Hyundai Tuscon, When changing the rear brakes does the caliper piston have to be turned in or can it just be pushed in like the front? Does Chilton or Haynes make a book for the 2006 Tuscon? Thanks

Can i use a different rear caliper for 2003 Hyundai Tiburon?

The twist is to compensate for break wear for your parking brake. Seeing how you shouldn't have to deal with it except at brake changes I wouldn't worry about it unless it is affecting brake performance.

I have a 2003 tiburon and I changed the rear rotors and pads but can't seem to get the caliper back on cause the lower guide pin doesn't slide like the upper one. I have never seen this before is...

YOU NEED TO COMPRESS THE CALIPER PISTON USING SPECIAL TOOL 09580 - 3400 OR YOU CAN USE A LARGE C CLAMP AND THE OLD BRAKE SHOE NEXT TO CALIPER PISTON.BE SURE TO SIPHON OUT 1/3 BRAKE FLUID OUT OF THE MASTER CYLINDER BEFORE COMPRESSING CALIPER PISTON BACK IN THE CALIPER BORE.WHEN YOU FINISH REPLACING REPLACING REAR BRAKE SHOES.MAKE SURE BRAKE MASTERCYLINDER RESERVOIR COVER BACK ON RESERVOIR BACK IN PLACE.THEN PUMP BRAKE PEDAL TO SEAT BRAKE SHOES AGAINST ROTORS AND UNTIL YOU GET FIRM SOLID BRAKES.THEN CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL.DONT DRIVE CAR IF BRAKE PEDAL FEEL SOFT NOT FIRM.CHECK FOR LEAKING BRAKE HOSE OR LEAKING CALIPER PISTON SEAL.

Is there a certain tool you have to have to compress the rear pistons when changing the brakes on a 2003 hyundai tiburon

Normally rear disk brake pistons have notches on the top of the piston that a tool does fit into (usually a small square shaped tool with protrusions that fit into the notches on the top of the caliper pistons and this tool usually fits onto a 3/8 drive extension and ratchet), and the piston is then rotated down into the caliper, it actually screws into the caliper. You do not want to compress this type of piston or you will damage the caliper and piston.

How do you push in the cylinder in rear brakes to change pads on a 2005 tiburon

The Tiburon's rear disk brakes are self-adjusting to compensate for pad wear. You need to twist the piston clockwise to retract it into the caliper. You should do this using a special tool from Hyundai. Alternatively, you can get generic rear brake caliper tool at most auto parts stores that you can use on the end of your ratchet.

Or, you can be really careful with a pair of channel-lock pliers and grip the edge of the piston, allowing you to twist it back into the caliper.

On cars with 4 wheel disc brakes the rear calipers are what they call racheting. The pison needs to be turned clockwise at the same time you are pushing in.This mechanisum is for the E brake system. They make special tools for doing this that you can pick up at your local parts store.
