Most heater and A/C controls are vacuum operated. I would check to see if a vacuum hose fell off the unit or see something is blocking the line preventing operation of the controls.

There is a problem at the control switch. Take it off and the problem should be visible. Either the control arm on the switch has come off, or if controlled by vaccum, the hose has come off, or it may just need a new switch. Either case its in the switch. Hope it helps.

2001 Oldsmobile Aurora. Why does the air-conditioner turn itself on from the off when I start my car?

Smart sensing. If your air direct is set to Defrost the windshield, it is a proven fact that chilled or warm air that has gone through the AC element dries the moisture out of the air and prevents fogging up.

Look for a vacuum line off or leaking start in the engine compartment than work your way under dash usually in engine compartment but could be under dash usually passenger side or on the back of control switch on dash.

AIr always comes out of the dash vents no matter where the controls are set.

Sounds like a vacuum motor problem which controls the blend door and its position inside the dash board area where the flapper directs air from the heater core to the defrost vents or the vents, or the floor, as directed by climate controllers on the dash. Good luck on this repair.

I have a 2001 Olds aurora the other day I was driving went to turn the A/C on the lights come on but no air comes from the vents, when I try the defrost same story no air. It has always worked fine...

John, I had the same problem, check the fuse under the backseat, if it is good then turn the key to the on position, turn the air or the fan on, then wiggle the fuse maybe pull it out and put it back, if the fan starts then it is the same as mine. Its just a bad connection where the fuse plugs in.

it is the flap door inside the heater box area.alot of gm with electronic climate control have the problem.there is an actuator motor that needs to be replaced.

Air conditioner staying on...

Many cars use air conditioning as part of the defrost function. Cold air will clear windshield faster than hot air.
