I have 2 recalls for my grand cherokee --im the 2nd owner-- i dont have the original recall papers --- the recalls i got off fixya says the dealership is suppose to do parts and labor for FREE IS THAT REALLY TRUE ONE RECALL is for the floor shifter--- they are suppose to install a secondary detent system to floor shifter assembly--- daimchrysler sent interim notices to dealerships on March 22 2002 and another RECALL was done on sptember 12 1995-- for parking brake handle release button- because button can separate from the brake handle causing the parking brake to be inoperative the resolution is to go to the daimechrysler dealership --again ---and have them replace the parking brake HANDLE for FREE.do me being the 2nd owner void my recall claim? CAN THE DEALERSHIP VOID MY CLAIMS BECAUSE OF THERE OLD DATES? I LIVE ON A STEEP HILL AND I REALLY DEPEND ON MY PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM. I RECENTLY BOUGHT MY JEEP PUT MAJOR UPGRDADES ON THE ENGINE EXHAUST AND 19INCH RIMS --i would really hate to see my jeep crashed over something that was a manufacturing problem. im not familiar with recalls- please help ---the original owner brought these recalls to my attention because he knows i live in apts with a steep incline... PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a Chrysler tech for two decades. RECALLs are forever. Doesn't matter if you're the orginal owner. The dealership with enter your VIN number in their data bank and it will show all the open recalls.
