and has no such sensor.
its a CARB car
with ICM , spark magic box. , NO ECU /PCM brain in car
there for no CKP sensors.. sorry?

if you dont know what is there, photo it and post it
so others can see what is missing or wrong, from factory day 1 build.

the distributor has cam sensor. not crank.
it called today, CMP, cam sensor
this sensor sends signals to the ICM the ICM then makes spark
buy driving the coil,
the CMP is more like Points, simulation, and lasts near for ever.

the 89 4L has a CKP (crank sensor) and is know to fail on brand new cars. (you need to tune it to make work , back in 88/89) at flywheel.

Trouble Code Conditions:
Engine is running. Engine coolant temperature is higher than 50 C (122 F). Intake Air Temperature (IAT) is higher than 35 C (95 F). Engine soak time is higher than 360 minutes, or start-up coolant temperature is less than 45 C (113 F). Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor reading is greater than 107 C (224.6 F).
Possible Causes:

• Sensor
• Circuit
• ECM

in pure simple terms
the engine overheated,
try a new thermostat
or check levels in the RAD, cold.

The code goes in exactly how you would set the clock.If the code is correct the radio will unlock. It should be a 4 digit code.If its the 6 digit that is the code that needs to called into to GM for the 4 digit code.

unfortunately you would only have the code if you bought it new, each code is radio specific and can only be obtained by the dealer, if you have the owners manual it might have been written down by the original owner if that is not you

Try this:
> Disconnect the battery cables: Negative {black} cable first, then Positive{red}.
> Touch and hold the metal ends of the cables together (hold together so they make constant contact) for at least 30 seconds.
> Reconnect cables to battery: Positive first, then Negative.
> Then try entering the code.

Sometimes the radio will lock (especially if the code has been typed in wrong several times) and this is a way to manually unlock it.

you will need to call the dealer, they will tell you to push and hold two of the preset buttons to get a code and then two more for another code then they take both codes to get the code to unlock the radio, call parts dept, hope this helps.

If you need it - I called 360-696-2277 which is the local Mitsubishi Dealership for me here in Washington State. They were the ones who offered to give it to me over the phone..
