I have a 97 GMC Sierra K1500 5.0 4x4. Problem is that it will not lock into 4x4. When I press the three button 4x4 Hi or 4x4 Lo I hear it engaging, but I'm not getting any power to the front wheels. The lights just blink. I do see the drive shaft move however when it gets engaged. I do hear a clicking noise when I run it in 4x4 lo/hi. Thinking it's the chain? But I see the driveshaft move. I don't think it's the actuator ( I could be wrong ) I tried locating it under the battery plate but it didn't seem like that was the right spot. I did add more fluid to the transfer case because it was low. ( Just replaced the rear seal yesterday ) This issue is driving me crazy. Any ideas/ advice would be much appreciated!
This would your transfer cause mod under dash or your t/case motor is bad

Hi my name is Juan and I do own a trailblazer with the same year 2002 and I read the problem you have let me try to help you Have you try to shift to 4hi with your transmission in neutral ? the transmission needs to be in neutral in order to shift the transfer case to 4hi and the vehicle needs to be completely stooped also is your service 4wd light on?? if the light is on your transfer case needs service and it can be as simple as the switch inside your car or a solenoid that has not been detected by the computer

try going into reverse for 10 feet then go to drive for 10 feet that might help if not it is to the wiring to you 4x4 engage system (wires to your wheel hub)

Ok the drive shaft will spin thats good. remove the front driff actuator and see if the plunger extents. if it doesn't check that the power and grond ar ok. If they are then replace the actuator. Just so you know the two actuator may be diffrent. If it has been replaced no problem. If it hasn't ever been replaced then ther is a updated part it come as a kit witha harness spacer and actuator.
Testimonial: "Fixya pointed me in the right direction to find the problem. It was in fact the front actuator which was not expanding. The 4wd is working. Thanks."

Hi and welcome to FixYa!
Have you tried replacing the transmission fluid? If not, then as a first course of action please replace the fluid. When the fluid is burnt, the transmission can act unususal. A smooth performance and shifting will be noticeable after the procedure.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
