I think you mean 3.9, stock is 195 but you can also use a 180.

If thermostat is stuck open will it make your engine cooling fan run constantly?

im assuming your speaking of the engines internal thermostat ? if this sticks open (not likely) then temp gauge on car will never reach operation temp and stay low on scale ( entire purpose of thermostat in first place) now if your coolant fan switch sticks closed (very likely) then your fan will run constantly and only shut off with the key

also another condition that makes them run more often is that engine temp gauge is over normal (showing) and this is an indicator that cooling system has a problem and needs service

Were are the cooling fan relay/ coolant temperature sensor/ambient temperature sensor located on a 1995 volvo 960, 2,9L

the plug that goes into your thermostat housing may be bridge causing the fan to stay on . its a quick fix when the sensor goes bad most people do it . check thermostat housing for sensor attatchment and see if its bridged

Installing temperature gauge 1999 Mustang 3.8L

Congrats. Sarcasm is free.
I didn't see a question, so let's play the guessing game.

Air temp?
Water temp?
Oil temp?
Trans temp?
Your temp?

Do you need to know how to mount a gauge to the dash?
Do you need to know where to run the power wire for gauge light?
Do you need to know where to install the sensor on intake and or engine?
Do you need to borrow some tools?

I feel better after unloading sarcasm.

Now, I'm going to assume it's water temp.

if it's electronic, you can just remove the stock sensor wire from on/near the waterneck/thermostat housing and plug in the new wire.

If it's mechanical, you will need to install the new probe into a port where it can contact the water.

On my old 3.8 (1997) I changed to an aftermarket waterneck that had a spot to screw in a temp probe.

On my 2003 gt, I haven't upgraded gauges yet, but the water sensor is on the front passenger side of the intake. I will add a pic of my gt so you can see the placement.

With this type, you can just add your wires to it (splice them in) and keep both the stock gauge & the aftermarket.
Or just remove the stock wire, then the stock sensor, then install the new stuff.
it's the black wire near the alternator. (almost center right of the pic to the right of the pink fuel injector)

Engine cooling fan will not opperate

check that you have a thermal switch to switch on the fan and not a temp sender unit. One completes the curcuit when a set temp is reached ,the other is a resistance unit that lowers the voltage which in turn reads hotter on the gauge.

What could cause code PO128 to come up on a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer

Sounds like the thermostat may be stuck open or has anyone put a colder thermostat in the car, because once it starts to get cold it will throw a SES with a colder then stock thermostat.

Code PO128; coolant temp below thermostat regulating temp. Replace the thermostat and that should address your issue.

Thank you for using fixya and good uck

1995 Chevy Tahoe 5.7L V8: thermostat temperature/running temp?

Depends on what thermostat you put in. Stock is a 190*. Which will usally run about 200-210. That's where most all small blocks are happy.

Running hot

You either have a head gasket problem or the
coolant system wants bleeding as air is being trapped in it .
Take out thermostat and try bleeding and driving without it in if ok then try the old one or a lower temp one

Let me know how you get on Ron.
