when you park the truck dont move mean is on park but the range sensor is not working to make the by pass to make the truck to start posible you need to replace the range sensor or neutral safety switch
check your neutral safety switch, or linkage adjustment, try starting it in neutral, is there play in the shift lever, will it start if you move it around the other thing to check is the ignition switch
you can shift it at transmission by hand to neutral or park and have someone inside start the car and you manually put in gear under hood and drive it to shop or garage, wherever
Hello! If it starts every time the Shift Lever is placed in Neutral the Park/Neutral switch is defective and needs to be replaced...Wire colors are Pink and Light/Green,,,See diagrams...Guru...Saailer
You need to adjust the park neutral saftey switch. the problem you are having is the truck thinks the it is not in Park so the truck will not start unless it is all the way in park. Take the keu turn half way and move shifter to neutral and see if it starts. Then I cam tell you how to adjust it.
maybe not strong enough battery or try shifter moving while you try to start.. may be neutral safety switch so try jiggling the shifter in park and neutral. also the key may need to be cleaned the fobs get dirty where it wont read it, got a spare try it....
have same problem, ratan9 solution is pretty junk and I dont know why waste time posting it. After talking to local shop, to "test" the neutral safety switch, try to start in neutral, try to move shifter "farther" into park and turn key, listen to any clicks possible. If moving to neutral starts it you've got a bad switch. All the searching i've done it's either the safety switch, the ignition switch or a short in the harness somewhere
I'd look at replacing Neutral/park position switch.(or safety neutral switch.) Where on transmission will depend on engine and transmission in vehicle. Autoparts guy should be able to give you an idea.
