SOURCE: My Toyota Vitz has a

Knocking can be caused by a bad bearing somewhere in the engine. When the engine is accelerated it might go away due to higher oil pressure.

When did you have the oil changed and how many miles does it have?

Is the knocking rapid (5 or 6 times a second) or periodic (1 or 2 times a second)?

Some knocking is due to low octane gasoline if you experience it at highway speed.

Good luck on solving this knocking problem.

SOURCE: Where is the OBD port

It is OBD II all cars world-wide were required to be OBD II by the 1997 model year. The port should be located under the dash on the drivers side of the car. It looks like a serial port on the back of a home computer.

Tow ball weight for 1998 105R SERIES LANDCRUISER toyota

most tow bar specifications state 300-400 kgs is the maximum weight allowed ( best if the toyota is a long wheel base )
if you have something heavy on the bar you should be using load lever stabilizer bars from the bar to the "A" frame of the towed unit
these effectively reduce the weight on the ball by transferring the load to the vans wheels and the toyota front wheels
they reduce sway from uneven roads and passing trucks, improve driving stability on the toyota and reduce the load on the toyota drive tires
you measure the tow ball weight by lifting on the ball coupling of the van
best talk with bar specialist fitting shops and retailers that sell van accessories
don't forget you are legally limited by the weight you can tow by the vehicle towing specifications and for most late vehicle that tops out at 3000kgs --early vehicles it is less than 2000kgs

Have loud noise from engine, gets louder w/more rpms.it is an automatic,60k miles.no exhaust or muffler problem.

Serpentine belt tightener pulley bearing was bad, made a loud noise. I replaced the pulley (jobber part) and the noise level was reduced enough to notice the waterpump was also making a noise ... more revs = louder noise. I am now replacing the water pump. (approx 60k Miles too).

Just purchased my 2nd used Hyundai accent gs- 57,000 miles. I have been researching the cars problem of: 75 mph; in 5th gear, the rpm's are over 4000; making the engine noise almost unbearable! So what...

any "adjustments" you carry out to reduce engine speed at any given road speed will affect the speedo/odometer reading,BUT,the simplest/cheapest way of reducing revs is to fit bigger wheels/ tyres.say fit 15" instead of 13"with the same profile tyres.this will reduce your revs by about 500 @75mph.but the speedo will read 70mph.also acceleration times will be considerably reduced.and put an extra strain on the clutch/engine.
alternatively, swop the whole drivetrain to diesel,75mph=3500.

I have a 2005 dodge neon sxt, in the morning when I start it up I hear a loud knocking noise from the engine but after about 15 seconds it gets softer but is still there all day when I'm driving around.

It is probably your lifters sticking. Check your engine oil level and if thats fine, then add some oil detergent/additive that says it will "reduce engine knock and free sticky lifters" run with that additive for a couple hundred miles or until the noise gets better. then replce your oil after that without using the additive
