Check the fuel injectors, resistance should be around 12. You can at least check two. Mine on the end was bad, it read 7. then I knew I had to remove manifold to check and replace the bad ones. I only had two bad but since I was there I changed them all. To bad I put in a new fuel pump first. ouch.Check the fuel injectors, resistance should be around 12. You can at least check two. change the idler sensor,,,easy to do takes five minutes,,follow instructions to a tee,,,i recommend a bottle of lucas fuel additive to every other tank of gas it does wonders and keeps enjectors clean
Sounds to me like a fuel filter. When was the last time it was changed?Because if a car starts and runs till you give it gas under load then dies it is a fuel problem.Start by chaging fuel filter and if problem still persists then next thing to check is fuel pump.
i think you might be right it sounds like your engine is getting over fed fuel you are probably not getting very good fuel mileage either the 3.8 and 5.0 would defintely require the same volume of fuel it is probably playing havoc on the pressure regulators i would get another fuel pump and start there
Have you ascertained whether your fuel pump is functioning as it should?
It might be worthwhile to remove the fuel line after the pressure regulator and allow it to pump for several minutes, catching the fuel in a container of course.
With the hose free, the pump should continue to work rather than shutting off after pressure is attained.
Fuel pumps seem to be a fairly frequent problem in GM cars.
Unfortunately, if it is a failing pump, I think yours is located in the gas tank.
When was the last time the fuel filter was chg.?
