Electrical drain from car alarm

Hot weather often causes weak batteries to die. Try a jump start and go to AutoZone for a battery and charger test.

The battery current draw may be caused by a few things, here are some to check: the most common is that a light stays on like the dome light, the brake l;ights may be staying on,aftermarket accessories can cause it as well, audio amplifiers or stereo equipment or aftermarket alarm systems, very common.

I have a 97 Celica Convertible and multiple electrical issues. The convertible top doesn't work, Cruise doesn't work, door locks don't work, shift lock doesn't work, cooling fans don't work. Reffering to the 6cee312 gif Toyota Ed supplied, it looks like there may be something that is common to all these components? Where do I go first? Thanks! Mike

it may be your alternator that is draining your battery and causing problems. I have replaced my alternator two years in a row on my 2003 Corolla...also having other electrical problems with the radio and cd player. I have been reading where this is a common problem :(

There are many problems that could cause this issue. Your electrical system might have a drain somewhere -- maybe your alarm is malfunctioning (if you have one), or maybe a wire in the engine has somehow become damaged, grounding the system and discharging your batter at a slow rate. If your battery has been completely discharged before (completely dead) it might not be holding a charge like it should. Your alternator might not be charging the batter like it should while you drive, causing your battery to drain constantly and never recharge automatically like it's supposed to. It could be something more complex in your car's computer or electrical system.
The easiest way to check this is to go to a mechanic with an electrical system checker. Sears Auto Canter has all of the equipment, and charges a reasonable rate for checking your electrical system. Their equipment checks, no only the battery, but the whole electrical system for power drains, and the effectiveness of your alternator. If there is a power drain, Sears Auto can find it -- and they can help replace what is broken. They can also check the health of your battery itself (if it is not holding a charge, you can get a new one there). If it is not that, at least you have eliminated one possible cause.
If the car will start when jumped, it is most likely an issue with which Sears can help. If the car is still not working when attached to another car's battery or a jumper battery, then the problem is a bit more serious. In this case, a professional mechanic can inspect the car and find the issue, or at least give you a cost estimate, so you know if it is worth fixing.

Alarm system teake up no more power than the memory on your radio.....un less it is triggered alot. Pul the negative off your battery and connect a simple 12v tyest light between the negative and the battery. The light should fade iout. If it stays on you have a short in the car. Pull fuses that are always on till the light goes out. Might be your alternator. Goal is to get the light to go out.

Check the light under the hood, the switch may be bad and the light stay's on all the time and over the visor. Check to make sure the vanity light is off also.  It's just a start and i have known also that the 4X4 actuator will drain too. Keep me posted, be glad to help and it sounds like it's going to be a gremlin to find the battery drain. 

disable or remove the alarm and see if problem gone especially ifits an aftermarket fitment alarm system.sounds like this job is one for an auto elec.
have had central door lock modules cause this

This is a Direct Fault Caused by the Alarm System Starter Kill. Do you have an Alarm Override Switch???? You may need the Dealership to Reset the Alarm if not.
