P0336 Code 99 Malibu, 3.1 engine. Engine light on. Code: P0336. When I erase the code the car runs without engine light on for one trip. When I stop and start again the engine light re-appears. The car seems to run ok although I believe it is using quite a bit of gas. Any ideas? Thanks Terry

The code P0336 is crank shaft sensor performance code. The sensor could be faulty and not picking up a good signal. The after erasing the code, the problem still exists ,so it is then a pending code and when you shut the car off and restart it the code reappears.Just another idea here ,if you have not had a tune-up recently(plugs, wires, airfilter, etc.)you could get unwanted codes and your engine will not perform as it should. This could cause poor gas mileage as well.John.

I have replaced two two camshaft sensors on my 2007 Saturn outlook Xr for code 336 and no results please help

Who replaced the sensor ? You or a repair shop ? The DTC P0336 does not say to replace a sensor . You do not have access to the diagnostic trouble code diagnostic's . Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop .

What sensor do i need to disable to set timing on 1998 nissan frointer

well lets start with warming up the engine. so run it for a while. stop the engine and unplug the throttle position sensor. restart the engine and rev it 2000-3000 rpms 2 or 3 minutes under no load (such as lights, blower motor, a/c and so on) and then run it at idle speed. check timing at idle using timing light and set it to 20+/-2 BTDC.after adjustment shut the truck off and replug the throtle position sensor back. this will however turn your "service engine soon" light on, because you have unpluged the sensor and ran the truck. you will need to erase the ecm memory/reset it/get code reader and erase code.
thats how you doit without nissan scanner aka CONSULT2.

Hi my gas cap serv light came on because my cap was broken i went and bought a new one and the serv messg is still on

You may have a leak in the EVP system, causing the light to stay on. It would help if you had erased the code with a code reader that allows you to erase codes in the PCM. Make sure the cap is tight and clicks at least 3 times, drive the vehicle a few miles. Stop the car, turn off the engine, then restart and drive. it may take a few "good" trips to be recognized by the engines computer borfore it turns off. If your comfortable with removing the NEGATVE SIDE battery cable for 30 seconds, then reconnecting it and make sure it is clean and tight, you can try it to see if this helps turn off the light faster. If not, you may have another issue regarding the EVAP system.

My truck has had the check engine light on for awhile but was running ok. All of a sudden it started running like ****.

Its a tough one without knowing what the Check engine code is.. A trip by your local Autozone, Advance or nearby parts store should be able to get this info for you. These stores will retrieve the code for you... but they usually will not erase it.. hope this helps..

2000 sunfire has p0336, p0340, p0130, where to

p0130 is an oxygen sensor code.
p0340 is your camshaft position sensor code
p0336 is your crankshaft position sensor code

as far as the p0130 code those usually are what i call neglected sensors that do not get replaced when they should be. this sensor is expensive but worth the money as it will help on fuel mileage.

on to the camshaft position sensor, i would start here with this. replace that sensor and when you are replacing it, inspect the sensor and make sure the electrical wires going into it are in good shape. after replacing those 2 sensors, go to a parts store who can erase your codes to turn the light off and then let us know if it comes back on and then we will go from there on the repair.
