SOURCE: The fan pulley is loose in my 2005 Trailblazer.
this is hard to say, not knowing whats wrong, it may be a bad waterpump or bad fan clutch, the fan clutch is the most common problem on these type of trucks, but could be the pump,to drive 25 miles i dont know, tell you what, open the hood with the engine off, grab the fan and try to spin it,if it binds up then its okay to drive, but if you grab it and move it back and fourth and theres alot of play then its a gamble but a would think it would be okay just keep an eye on the temp gauge, if it starts to overheat then shut it down and tow it the rest of the way, hope this helps,

SOURCE: BLOWER RESISTOR BAD FAN ONLY RUNS @ HIGH SPEED
Chevrolet 2004 TrailBlazer
Look next to the blower. You can remove the panel under the passenger side. Go through the glove box and move it down out of the way to access the electrical connector. Then remove two bolts and the electrical connector.
SOURCE: WHERE DO I FIND THE AC/HEATER FAN MOTOR SWITCH ON
rickalber: The fan motor switch is within what GM refers to as the HVAC control unit. This is located in the dash, You actually touch part of it, which are the knobs.
Looking at the flat rate guide, it shows 4 tenths of an hour to change the part out and the part retails for $142.58
Are you sure you need this part?
What are the symptoms?
If the blower runs but only has high, it is not the switch, but the blower resistor! That part cost $24.00 but takes 8 tenths of an hour to replace according to GM.
Make sure of your diagnosis before replacing a part. All too often, I see people throwing parts at problems and spending small fortunes on simple problems. Had they only waited and gotten professional help.
I had a customer bring his car into my shop after he had spent untold hours trying to fix his car and nearly a thousand dollars in parts.
After listening to his discription of the problem, it took all of 5 minutes to pin the problem down and fix it. We found his problem which was a loose ground wire on his intake manifold which affected his fuel injection system. We happened to specialize in this product and the problem was quite common!
CAN YOU SAY HOPPING MAD?
We charged him about $50.00! He has learned a very expensive lesson. Mind you, this doesn't mean you shouldn't try to fix your own car, but make sure it is something you can handle and if the tech says he/she thinks it may be better addressed by a professional actually working on it, take their advice.

Your switch acts as a reastat which adjusts your speeds your switch is going bad so you only have the two speeds left on that reastat.. thanks Jerry
