1998 Volvo V70 A/C intermittent

98 V70 air conditioner works for 10 minutes then no more cold air. Shut air off 15-20 minutes and it will blow cold air for 10 minutes and then turns warm again. System recharge didn't solve problem.

I have a 1998 s70. The a/c fuse keeps blowing. It only happens when I start the car. Doesn't matter if the air is set on or not. Sometimes it can go for days on one fuse other days we can blow 3 in one day.

I had exactly the same problem. When your engine is cold and off check the gap on your ac compressor with a feeler gauge, it should be between 0.3 and 0.5mm. If it is larger you need to re-shim which invloves undoing a nut on the end off the compressor and removing the clutch plate, then removing the appropriate shims (look like washers) then replace. The reason it blows warm after 10 minutes or so is because the ac compressor gets hot and the clutch gap gets too large for the electro-magnetic clutch to engage. Some people would say that you need a new compressor but all you need to do is a re-shim.

Hey, i have a problem with a 1998 Volvo V70 diesel.Car can't blow hot air , and at the winter is getting really cold inside. What i'm sure about is that my thermostat is ok. My radiator is ok, liquid ok, ...

Did you recently do any cooling system work? The cooling system is pressurized and in your case it might have air in it. There is a bleed screw for the system, but I do not know where it is. But, let the engine warm up to the half way mark on the instrument cluster. Then try squeezing the upper and lower radiator hoses a few times. Does not have to be simultaneously. Wear gloves because the radiator hoses will be hot. Also be careful, not to come in contact with the fan, as this could cause serious bodily injury.

My blower on my 1998 volvo v70 xc is not blowing

The most common problem is either the blower motor or the speed control resistor. Both items can be accessed by removing the glove box and panel below it.

I can not get cold air from my a/c only hot air blows

Most likely cause is lack of refrigerant. Most compressors won't engage without a minimum of 20psi of refrigerant on the low side of the system. A recharge is needed to get your AC working again.

Heather blows intermittent cold air

It sounds like you need to go to the shop. the blend doors control the air flow, heat, and distribution. There are about 6 to 7 motors in all. They most likely need to be recalibrated. There is also a possibility the Climate Control Module Software will need to be upgraded. There is a small chance that there is a bad blend door motor that is crashing the communication link between the motors and the module.

Either way it goes only the dealer, or mabey a very heavily invested independent shop.

Hope this helps.

Volvo V70 xc AWD '98 - fuel filter change

Brandonlo168,

The fuel filter can be located under the carpeted cargo storage floor at the rear of the wagon. Remove the four 10mm bolts, remove the cover. You will then see a removeable plate to the right just behind the rear passenger seat. Fuel filter can be seen through hole in hole. Replaced from underneath wagon. Be sure to make sure lines are fully inserted onto filter. Check for leaks. No smoking, extinguisher handy. Note arrow on filter for correct fuel flow.
