You most likely set off the security somehow. Thats what the lock would be. Are you using a factory key or something made later? if the security chip in the key has malfunctioned it wont start the car. Use a spare key if you have
Maybe the anti theft security system is failing and turning off the starter. This us common on GM vehicles. Go to this link and compare symptoms.

check security light if it is flashing it will have to be reset like this.
switch car on leave on 15 min. then switch off then start engine the light should go off.
Listen for a click from under the steering column when you turn the key on. If you hear no electrical click then your ignition switch could be bad. If you hear an electrical click the you starter soleniod is bad.
