Mitsubishi Eclipse GT clutch slipping

My 01 eclipse gt has a manual transmission and clutch that has begun making noise when the clutch peddle is pushed in / clutch disengaged that quiets once the clutch is fully engaged again and happens mostly when the car is cold and first started. It has also begun slipping, badly now, especially going in to 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears, sometimes so bad that it takes more than a minutes for the gear to actually engage. The clutch has apx 75k miles on it so was not surprised when it started to get more difficult to go into reverse, but these problems sprang up quickly & have worsen dramatically in only a month

SOURCE: 1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse transmission slips in overdrive

well the low cost way to go first would be to try and change the trans fluids. If the problems still remains the it may be an internal problem

SOURCE: won't go into gear to drive. may be transmission?

If the clutch has never been changed most likely it is that. The way you can check it is by removing the transmission and looking at the clutch disc. It could be transmission syncros but I am willing to bet you just need a new clutch.

I have a 1999 gs mitsubishi eclipse my check engine light is on the code for the light is p1390 how do i get it fix need help

It appears that there might be a TSB (technical service bulletin) issued on this vehicle by Mitsubishi. Check with your local dealer to verify for certain. One link with brief summary of this on a 1998 model (yours might fall into this class too?) can be seen here and is as follows:

1998 Mitsubishi ECLIPSE 98 - Transmission TCM PCM > POWER TRAIN : AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION : CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM) [Part 103100 ]
TSB No: 01 NHTSA ID: 622435 , May 01, 2001 : Replacement:
Summary: subject regarding diagnostic trouble code p1390 pcm relearn.

A fuller discussion on a 1996 with this code can be seen here. Scroll down to the answer.

Perhaps these will provide a bit of information prior to contacting your dealer. I've never worked in a dealership that charged for looking up & providing info on TSB's. Good luck.

If this helps to solve your problem then please take a moment to rate this post. - Thanks.
