Engine shut down while driving

While driving engine shuts down, when trying to restart, engine will not crank, and the dash reads a code which says " No Bus", what is this code, and what could cause this problem. There is no pattern of time when this happens, sometimes it happens when driving up incline, but not all the time, sometimes when taking off from a stop.

Thanks

at the shop we can not find any codes stored in comp, also when this problem happens, engine will turn over but not start.

While driving, anywhere, anytime, anyspeed, any weather. All guages drop, EVERYTHING SHUTS DOWN!!!. Have to fight to steer off road. (NOT GOOD on interstate with rigs and tankers behind you). Odometer goes blank and then shows NO BUS. 3 different mechanics can't figure it out. One used a scanner and said there was no code listed for it. I'm desperate. I have a handicapped child and I need my transportation. By the way, same SUV, year , SLT 4X4.

This will need a good repair shop , not necessarily a dealer. Find one recommended by friends that can do computer/electrical work. The "no bus" means the cars computer network is losing comminication between itself. This is not a code , but you might have code(s) stored in the computer system.A repair shop can scan for any stored codes to start the diagnosis. The problem could be in the PCM (engine computer) or even the Theft deterent system. Sounds more like theft deterent because of the no crank situation. If you have the spare ignition key try it & see if anything changes.

Sounds like a bad engine computer. The shop will have to connect the scanner & see what is missing when problem is actually happening. Check for spark , fuel pressure , injector pulse. See if the computer is seeing any of this & start your diagnosis from there. Good luck

I was driving my 1995 plymouth grand voyager about 55 and went to accelerate when engine shut off and now all it has is a click but wont restart what could be problem

Sounds like the alternator went out (quit charging) and you have been running on the remaining charge of the battery until it was depleted. Try a jump start to crank it again , if it restarts, remove cables and look at dash warning lights for a red battery. It will not run long before it shuts down again. Alternator replacement will be needed. Hope this helped. Good Luck !

When I drive the lumina about 20 miles and brake to stop engine dies. Will restart in park but as soon as put in drive or reverse it instently dies after it cools about 10-15 minets can restart and drive

a bad crank sensor causes a car to shut down while driving down road. and will not start back up for about 10 minutes. have car scanned to read the problem codes. any auto parts stores will scan for free.

Engine shuts down on deceleration

Well 145K is alot of miles, catera's are not that reliable especially after 100K. It sounds like you could have multiple issues but take it to a mechanic asap before it becomes unfixable.

2004 ford f350diesle hard starting depress throtle nothing there

Dear dsmalley427,
I think it sounds like a fuel injection problem. You get fuel for a while until the injector backs up and then all of a sudden NO FUEL. The engine quits and the pressure drops and flow returns enough for you to restart. If I were you I would get to a good mechanic and check the fuel injectors.
OR--try adding a fuel additive that would clean the injectors.--Signed jwr
