I have a Transmission noise on a 1998 AE112 MODEL with 7a-fe engine and 4 speed auto

I have a 1998 AE112 MODEL with 7a-fe ENGINE and 4 SPEED Auto, after about 10 kms of driving and it gets warmed up- then as you have the engine at 1000 to 1200 rpm (idling at lights ) a strange noise comes from the auto area, a type of whirring (but only at that rev range). Just guessing its in the trans as have eliminated cam belt and other belts I have taken off, and noise still there. Hard to pinpoint but could a sticky valve or something in there be restricting hot fluid?? any help would be appreciated, from New Zealand

i would first check the timing and if that does not fit i would take the cover back off and look at the belt for a bad or missing tooth

SOURCE: Oil light in 1999 Toyota camry comes on when idling.

bad to worn out oil pump or excessive oil passage clearances that allowing more oil to pass thru them at a lower pressure due to the bigger opening. It can be a sign of an emminant engine failure due to oil starvation.

SOURCE: 1998 camry 5sfe engine, surging at idle

Check for air leaks in the vacuum pipes in and around the inlet manifold, they have a habit if going brittle and splitting.
Another possibility is the temp sender , if the ecu thinks the engine is too cold it will compensate causing the engine to " hunt". This can be something as simple as a worn radiator cap seal letting air into the cooling system and tricking the sensor.
Hope this helps, Marshall

2002 hyundai sante fe cvt transmission problems

As far as I know the 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe did NOT have a CVT transmission, rather a 4 speed automatic. Mine went well over 300,000 miles (see photo) with original trans and engine.

'95 Corolla Engine Question

An engine from another Corolla up to 1997 will fit. There are 2 engines though. 4A-fe (1.6L) or a 7A-fe (1.8L) They look similar but run different Engine managment computers. The 4A-fe uses a 3spd auto trans and the 7A-fe uses a 4spd auto trans. Also some of the wiring may be different.
Hope this helps.

1998 Honda Civic engine replaced with engine H15B is it the right one

The only H15B I can find on the internet is a Japanese made piece of construction equipment. The proper motor for your civic would be:
KA4AT - 4 cylinder Auto transmission, 49 states.
KL4AT - 4 cylinder Auto Trans. California
KA5MT - 4 Cylinder 5 speed manual trans 49 states
KL5MT - 4 cylinder 5 speed manual trans. California.
The CA versions have more stringent emission standards than the other 49 states. The Honda engine #'s I've listed are stamped on the engine block. As u face the engine compartment standing in front of the car, the # should be next to a rubber plug (square shape) that is removed to time the engine, so look there for some ID.

1998 SUNFIRE GT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM

There are 3 transmissions that could be in your car,the 3 speed auto and 4 speed auto overdrive, and of course the manual 5 speed. The 3 speed is designated the 3T40,the 4 speed auto is the 4T40E trans. To check the fluid level, first, the car has to be warmed up to at least 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The car has to be raised in the air,as there is a steel plug in the trans case that has to be removed to check the fluid level. The plug takes an 11 mm or 7/16" socket or wrench and is located on the passenger side of the trans case, near where the passenger side axle engages into the trans. The procedure is to warm the car up to at least 100 degrees, engage the shifter into each gear selection pausing for about 5 seconds in each gear, then remove the plug.If fluid drips out,it is full.If no fluid drips out,add fluid through the top of the trans after removing the red plastic cap,and make sure to use a long funnel to avoid a mess.Add fluid until it drips out the hole. When done, replace the plug and cap.Just a note,a transmission does not "use" fluid like an engine uses oil.If you have to add fluid, that means there is a leak that needs to be repaired.Good luck
