I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the heater only blows cold air the fan controls work fine, and the temp gauge reads normal, the hoses get hot also. What could be the problem?
If the "Heater In Hose" gets hot, and the "Heater Out Hose" does not get hot, than either the Control Valve is sticking closed, or your heater core is plugged up with ****!
Have you used "Barrs Leak" or a simular product for a radiator leak? That will sometimes clog the heater core.
I have a 1993 Grand Cherokee, which "Normally" throws very hot air out of the heater, but lately sometimes it only throws warm air, till I make my first stop, than it gets hot.....all because the heat control valve is hanging up.
Low water in the radiator will also cause a heater to not work.....if the water level is too low to circulate to the heater.

You need a new thermostat
sounds like your heater core is plugged up.
would you like to know the steps to cleaning it?
first pop the hood, look toward the firewall( wall closest to the windshield) there should be two hoses about 2-4 inchen away from each other. one of the hoses will go to the radiator. unhook the hoses from the firewall connection. you should leave the one hose connected to the radiator so you can kink it and not loose all your coolant. next you should have both spouts protruding from your firewall. take a hose and blast through one side and watch as all the gunk pores out.
make sure you run the water through it for about 5 minutes or until clean water shows.
the two spouts protruding are only input and output of a smaller radiator in your air duct.
after you connect the hoses back let the vehicle warm up, turn it off then check the coolant level. add necessary amount.

Hi I have a 2002 JGC ltd and it is most likely your dampeners or louvers located behind your temp controls (inside the dash) for driver and passenger sides that control the direction of air flow from air outside in, circulation, heat to windshield, centre and or to floor etc. I had a friend that had heat only to the passenger side and cold air blowing to driver side. He took it in and they replaced stuck dampeners and it was not cheap. Sounds like the tipical problem with heaters.
