1996 oldsmobile aurora 15 amp Dis FUSE? some weird type of distrubutor?

Have a 96 olds aurora heating core went out, replaced, brother took the hard way of getting to it by taking it out, then he broke the drum had to replace with new one, afterwards had a mis to the engine then just quit and would just turn over and over,i found one fuse blown 15 amp on the inside car fuse box,it said 15 amp Dis,i replaced it started, then 5 mins later blew out again and engine died and did same thing just turns over, anyone have any idea what this fuse is for? also been told theres a distrubutor on this yr..i see none all of my wires run to the front and to the back of engine, its a 4.0 L engine,i have looked p the distrubutor and it shows a 96 has one cept it doesnt run spark wires to it,in fact i couldnt even find it,at one site shows a distrubutor that looks regular where plug wires go to,then seen another that was a small black type of distrubutor, never seen anything like it that one didnt have the place for spark wires,so was wondering if anyone knows where its located on the motor and if the DIS 15 amp fuse has something to do with this,if one goes bad will it blow out the fuse? appreciate any suggestions, james

SOURCE: ac quit running, compressor doesnt run,fan doesnt run,no bad fuses or relays that i can find, replaced controls

It may be your ignition switch. Bang on the bottom of your steering column with the key in the "on" position and see if the fan will fire up. My car is doing the exact same thing right now, but I can basically rub the bottom of the trim under the steering column and it comes on. It will also start when I hit a good bump on the road.

Good luck!

If none of your coils are firing then it is possible you have lost the ignition module. It mounts under the coils and is not hard to change. Good Luck

SOURCE: '93 olds Cutlass Supreme eng died now not firing.

Its not the packs, I am pretty sure that is the distributor in the engine, (the one the coil pack hooks up to) I thought I knew my stuff until a 15 year old neighbor kid came and fixed my sundance that way, that or its a loose battery wire. hope this helps, have a nice day, and drive that thing like it was meant to be driven!

My heater isn't working..how do i fix it?

Here's a list of possible culprits:

Priority Action Part Type Cause
1 Inspect - Antifreeze Needed - Coolant Level Low.
2 Inspect - Heater Control Valve - Leaking or Faulty Heater Control Valve.
3 Inspect - Thermostat - Thermostat Stuck Open.

First thing to check is your engine coolant level - quick and free.
Since your blower works, my nominee for the offending part would be the Heater Control Valve, which redirects hot coolant into the passenger compartment heater core. Without hot coolant, the blower will just blow cold air, since the heater core isn't getting the needed flow of hot coolant through it.
There may also be a fault in the "Temperature Valve Actuators" (there is a right hand and a left hand version of these - one for each side of the car).
The Right hand Temperature Valve Actuator is AC Delco part #15-72971.
The Left hand Temperature Valve Actuator is AC Delco part #15-72972.
Their pictures are available in the online AC Delco Parts Catalog at:

1996 olds aurora cooling fans don't work

is it blowing a 40 or 60 amp maxi-fuse located on the passenger side front area of the engine compartment located in the fuse panel? If so i believe 95-96 had the wiring for the fans to close to the exhaust manifold causing the insulation on the wiring to melt which in my case resulted in a dead short off and on blowing the fuse.

Hi how do you replace an alternator for a oldsmobile aurora

Oh wow. I am gonna assume this is the 3.5l v6 engine. If this is the case, then the alternator is under the engine just above the right side drive axle. If this is that engine , then it must be removed from the bottom of the car. The engine cradle must be lowered to access it.

My gauges(temp, speedometer, tachometer, fuel, etc.) do not work

I believe that this is caused by a blown Relay or Fuse. I also just went through this. I took my Relays into NAPA and replaced them all, refered back to the diagram and installed the new ones, I also, (unsure if it'll make a difference) turned every fuse to face upright and in the same direction after removing to clean the contact point with a soft tipped metel brush. Overall, replace the Relays and you should be fine.
