Not getting power to the ground in front end.

Not sure how to start this so here goes,
Mine is a 99 sierra extended cab Z71, I'm not getting power to front end but when I had it up on stands ,all four corners off the ground. The fnt.shaft is turning and the fnt. wheels spin untill I apply presure to the front tires ( chock one tire and use an axe handle to apply resistance to the other.) I am able to stop the rotation very easly. no grinding, banging or other noise. obviously problem is in the transfer case,, "right?"
I have already replaced the actuator and dash switches.

Thanks in advance,

Jim Krynak,

Oberlin, Ohio.

I have a 2011 Sierra 1500 X-Cab 5.3L Z71 after

May be a problem with the mass air flow (MAF) sensor - I would check the readings from it to make sure it is working properly. It is very sensitive to fouling which can cause this problem.

Replaced battery and starter both where bad. Truck

loose connections and starter relay in power distribution box under hood. Make sure you dont have a loose or poor connection on a ground or power wire from battery.

What does the 50 amp fuse labeled batt in the fuse box under the hood send power too ? If I dont remove it my battery will drain totally dead over nite. Its in a 1996 chev 1/2 4wd Z71 extended cab

The fuse is the main fuse to the vehicles power supply just the same as removing the battery cable . you have a drain in your electrical system , use a test light , remove the possitive cable from the battery and hook one end to the battery and the other to the cable remove fuses till the light goes off ( make sure all doors are closed and switches turned off) that is your drain source . do no remove the 50 amp fuse in this test .

Check that the battery cable ends (where the wire goes into the clamp) are clean with no corrosion, and that the other end of those cables are securely connected - especially where the ground cable connects. Also check any ground strap that connects the engine with the frame or body.
