I have a 1995 z28 camaro with the LT1 motor, i'm having trouble with the radio. i'm trying to put a aftermarket radio in and its hooked up right, it comes on perfect, but no sound plays i hook the factory radio in and it plays fine. i even took the radio back and exchanged it for a new one thinking that was the problem, but no it still wont work i bought a new wireing harness to see if that was the problem, i know for a fact that i conected the wires right i mean its just color to color i even tried to eliminate the wire harness all together and connect the wires to the correct wires, but then the radio wouldnt turn on, so i hooked it all back up and double checked the factory radio again to see if i put it back together right and i did the factory radio still works so i tried it one last time to hook the aftermarket radio up and still the same problem. i dont get static or anything with the aftermarket radio i even grabed an extra speaker i had and took the radio and pluged it up to my little battery booster and low and behold i get static thru the speaker now why dont i get any sound when i hook it up in my car. any tips or is it something im doing wrong, please help!
Hi Jamie, Here's an old trick which you may find useful. Take a run down flashlight cell and confirm the wiring to the speakers by holding the earthing line of the speaker cable to the negative and flash the positive side with the feed to the speaker one at a time. With each swipe you will hear a thump from each speaker as you connect and disconnect. In that way you can confirm the cables are the ones you are connecting. Color coding is not always the same. Use a voltage test meter to confirm the constant power and ignition power and don't forget to earth the set once all other connections have been made, Withour an earth it won't work, but you know that anyway. Regards John
Testimonial: "ill try but i do not want to take out any speakers if i have too. but you did give me an idea i will take the extra speaker i have and hook up the postive, ground, and ignition wire to the car and hook up the extra speaker to elimanate the ground not working but thank you very much it will eliminate some questiond, thanks john."
Hi Jamie, If you use the meathod of testing the speakers cables with the flash light cell, you'll have no need to remove any speaker, as all you'll be doing is confirming the wiring is correct to each in situ speaker and that the speaker being tested is working. All you need do is from the cables connecting to the new aftermarket sound system and connect as earlier described. As you touch and very quickly release the cable from the flash light cell you will hear a corresponding thump from the speaker being tested. Regards John
If you don't hear a thump you either have the wrong cables or something is wrong with the unit. I believe you may have connected the wrong cables.
well i called a buddy of mine who has a 97 and he says that almost all the camaros that come with BOSE speaker brand have my problem so he looked at my car and said that my new wireing harness i bought for the new radio dosnt have ground plugs so i asked what to do and he said anything i do would be a 3 to 4 hour job and that it still might not be right so i come up the conclusion to just go ahead and bite the bullet to just run all new wires to the radio to the speakers and i did. im happy i did and it only took maybe 2 hours it was much easier then i thought so my advise for anyone else who has this problem when you have chasyground radios is to just go ahead and run new wire, thanks john you opened my eyes

SOURCE: i need to know what color are for what on my radio wire harness
this is right up my ally orange is 12v yellow is accessery black is ground dark blue and light blue rear sp yellow and brown rear sp light green and light brown ft sp and the other three wires is for one more ft sp and ill wire
you don't need all those wires . Just connect what you have and the gmos will simulate the rest
SOURCE: 2004 cavalier, hooking up aftermarket radio, and
should be a feed 12v permanent and a 12v feed from the ignition switch it must have these two wires ,so use a multi meter and find them
SOURCE: fuel gauge problem not working
its more likely the sending unit resistor inside the tank. sometimes you can replace just the float resistor with another working used one but most new ones come only as the complete unit
Testimonial: "was real helpful am going to drop the tank and change thank you"
SOURCE: radio only works if the red and yellow wires Are Tied together
sounds like you blew a fuse my friend. check it out
