Primary fuel pump (15 Amp) fuse blown (in cold weather ?)

2004 Touareg V8 driven less than 20k miles:
Engine starts and dies in about 10 seconds. Take the ignition key out and put it back in again to start and it will die again in about 10 seconds....
The dealer found that the fuse of the primary fuel pump was blown. Replacing the fuse seemed to solve the problem, but after a few days the same problem repeated.
This same dealer could not pin point the problem after hours of checking.
What could possibly be happening? Please help. i have the same problem with interior lights in my 2005 vw jetta. This only happens in extreme cold weather.

Primary fuel pump requires replacement. Your secondary fuel pump is used only for starting and WOT situations. This is why your vehicle will start, run, and die.

SOURCE: Interior Fan Motor won't stop 2004 VW Touareg

Find and replace the Blower fan relay, not sure where it is on your VW but it's common to be in with the fuse box by the battery. Good luck and hope this helps. When the relay goes bad from the heat of the electrical current, it seizes and does not disengage keeping the connection causing the ran to keep running.

SOURCE: My 2002 VW Jetta leaks on the passenger side every

i was a water leak specialist for vw and mainly the leaks are from around the rubber at the windshield as well as follow down through the antenna the 2 fuses under the drivers dash are 45.00 each 20 years ago im sure three more than that now ...use a garden hose and start low and after a few minutes raise it little by little until leak is found as well as a 2nd person in the vehicle with a light to look for the leak you may caulk or of that nature using tape to ensure a nice straight line on the windshield and not make a mess sometimes it even comes from the fenders and so look carefully and raise the hose upwards going slowly allowing the water to penetrate the area in which it finds its way in

Car runs and drives but 10-15 miles it dies and wont run until cools off

Dear Sir,
As you said your car stop after 10-15 miles run.and start working after 10 to 15 min wait.
It can occur due a part or unit which defer working according to temperature. it means it stop working when it got hot and start working when it get cold. this type of parts are motors which have winding unit inside it, which can stop working in high temperature, it will not happen if they are good working condition but if that is got short then it can happen.
In your case cause is the fuel pump which is in fuel tank,Till it is cold it supply the fuel to engine but after few miles run it stop sending fuel to engine ,after wait for 10 to 15 it again start sending fuel to engine when it get cold.
Fuel pump will solve your problem. if any issue please let me know. Thanks.

Car will start but will only run for about 20 seconds

I had the same situation on my 2004 Touareg. The problem is the Fuel Pump. The Touareg has two. A primary and secondary. The primary on yours has gone out. The secondary is to assist with starts and secondary throttle driving situations like pulling a load or having a bit of fun in OD or sport mode. The part alone should run you about $350.00. However the tank has to be dropped from the vehicle to replace it. Should take no longer than 2 days max at a dealership. Mine was a one day job.

Hope this helps.

Engine stalls while driving. Fuel deprivation?

I am having the exact same problem with my VW Touareg @60,000 miles. Two weeks ago and again today it sputters and stalls shortly after starting. I brought it into the shop and they could not reproduce the problem and said it was fine. Also, they had no ideas when I describes the problem. Anyone know what it going on? I am out of warranty.

Blown Fuses - Dead 1998 Ford Escort

Try changing the fuel filter first we always change them when servicing the fuel pump anyway, its easy and cheap,if that doesnt solve the problem you will have to perform an amperage draw test on the fuel pump to insure your not replacing a good pump. Check the fuel pump relay and inertia switch and wiring also.Although possible its unlikley the fuel pump would blow a fuse consistantly without displaying any driveability problems. There may also be another component running off the fuel pump fuse have your mechanic pull a wiring diagram to find out. Good hunting keep me informed
