A device used to transmit power to a motor or component, without sending that high power through the switch itself, which would burn out the switch in a short time. The switch is used to energize the relay so the power can be transmitted through the relay to the component.
A relay has two sides to it-the power side and the coil side. When the coil side is energized, say by the switch turning on, it causes the power side of the relay to connect the high power source to the wire going to the component or motor. Automakers use several relays throughout the car and its electrical circuits.

Power to many of this vehicle?€™s circuits are controlled by the module that is designated the power mode master (PMM). This vehicle?€™s PMM is the body control module (BCM). The PMM controls which power mode (Run, Accessory, Crank, Retained Accessory Power, or Off) is active.
Run/Crank Relay The run/crank relay control circuit is connected to a constant ground and is switched by the ignition 1 circuit or the body control module (BCM). The BCM, will in lieu of the ignition switch position, activate the Run/Crank relay during a remote start event. The Run/Crank relay supplies a power signal to the following circuits, when the a Run or Crank power mode is selected:
?€¢
Automatic transmission shift indicator

?€¢
Automatic transmission (A/T)

?€¢
Switched power feeds to the BCM

?€¢
Electronic brake control module (EBCM)

?€¢
Electronic ignition module (spark control)

?€¢
Electronic power steering module (EPS)

2004. Why is the blower motor not receiving power?

The blower motor relay in the auxiliary junction box under the hood is good ? All relays ? only one controls the blower motor ! The electronic automatic temperature control module turns it on by supplying a ground inside the module ! The 30 amp fuse for the blower motor is located in the under hood auxiliary junction box ! At the relay socket test for battery voltage at pins 30 an 86 ,power form 30amp fuse ! The other two pins 85 an 87 ,85 is circuit to the electronic temperature control module . You could test this part of the circuit too , with a test light or volt meter . But if no voltage to the blower motor ,could be the electronic temperature control module is bad ! 1999 cadillac cetera. transmission wont go into any gear. or reverse.

Have you checked your fuses and relays? Cadillac's have an electronic shift system. It is actually both mechanical and electronic. Check your fuses and relays, if you don't have a book for the location of the fuses and relays you can probably find a printout on the internet. It could be mechanical but I would eliminate all the electronic devices before I went for the mechanical shifter. More than likely you have a blown fuse or relay. There is no telling where the fuse will be.It might be under the spare tire.LOL! There are fuse boxes and relays all over the Cadallics. I believe the engineers deliberately hide them, that's where the fuse location guide will help and of course if you are fortunate to have the owners manual it might show all of them but not necessary. Good Luck!

For the EMTC ( Electronic Manual Temp Control ) and EATC ( electronic Automatic Temp control ) systems the AC fuses are :
F32 feeding the coil on the AC clutch relay
F11 feeding the normally open contacts on the AC clutch relay ( which powers the AC solenoid

The blower motor ( for AC or heat ) is F116 which feeds the blower motor relay
