I had the same problem on my 2005 Envoy. Turned out to be the idler pulley bearing. It is just a pulley the belt rides on. The bearing in the pulley was what was making the high pitched whine. I replaced the bearing, and the noise went away.
Have you tried to just change the belt on the motor. The belt could be making all of the noise????? You can get a bar of soap and have the motor running. Let the bar of soap rub on the belt to see if the noise start going away. If so, you need a New belt.

no doesn't seem to be when turning just driving and it's constant
The noise increases when u accelerate, does anything else seem to effect it, such as turning the steering wheel?
