Transmission fluid what type can i use for 1995 mercury cougar v8 4.8/ i bought dexron III

In a 1990 model auto trans, Castrol recommend "TRANSMAX DOMESTIC MULTI-VEHICLE ATF". This is equivalent to Dexron II or III but not Dexron VI.

If this jeep is listed correctly, as a 1996 jeep Cherokee country then the correct transmission fluid would be Mercon or Dexron III . this is the correct fluid, Also if you remove the transmission dip stick and wipe it and look at the stick it will say dexron III. good day

Dexron III

Manual Transmission - uses Dextrin II or Mercian type fluid. A 85W/90 gear oil may be used with the T500 trannie in very warm climates or if gear/bearing noise is excessive.
