SOURCE: change hyundai accent 2001 front brake pads

Once the car is jacked up, remove the front tires, then whith a 12 wrench key, remove the bolt that is located on the rear side of the caliper, not the one holding the brake fluid line buth the one right next to it. Pry the brake pad holder off and then remove the brake pads themselves. You will need to press the caliper's piston in, to be able to fit new brake pads since new pads will be thicker.

SOURCE: Removing breaks from a 2000 Hyundai Accent

hi from uk the 17mm bolts you mention do not remove as these secure the caliper carrier and only need removing to facilitate disc/rotor renewal to remove caliper only if you check the rear of caliper you will see two 13mm blts top and bottom of caliper these bolts pass thro conveluted rubber boots into slide pins bolts screw into these pins and the caliper is what is known as floating caliper this means only one piston operation on caliper then caliper slides on pins tou operate both pads when brakes applied so remove the two bolts and the steel spring on front face of caliper ?(remember how it fits !) then caliper slides off the rotor leaving pads in place on the carrier you then prise out pads/wirebrush carrier points where new pads are to fit then push caliper piston back then refit caliper in reverse order ADVICE= before refitting caliper smear alittle copper grease on rear metal side of each pad this prevents squeeling of pads when braking also pull out the to pins mentioned above that fit into carrier top/bottom wipe clean and put /smear copper grease on these too then refit and push in till rubber boots reseat on the carrier lips ? when you have done both sides brakes bleed calipers this is a must ! and when you do you will see dirty fluid emmited on the fist couple of pumps on b/pedal then clean fluid ? this WILL improve b/pedal travel and more positive ? the dirty fluid is o/heated /burnt fluid which becomes compressable giving soft pedal when operated and is due to heat transfer from disc/pads over time and is conducted thro caliper piston to fluid that is why it is recommended you bleed/flush hydraulics at least 2year intervals hope the above helps you and understandable best wishes from uk

SOURCE: 2003 hyundai accent brakes lockup, had

will try to help.. do you have an abs light on? did you have the brake work done at a repair facility? it sounds like you have a brake caliper locking up,even though you just had replaced.it's not uncommon to get a bad one[calliper] suggest if the work was done at a shop, return it for warranty repair. if you repaired yourself, you'll need to find out which calipers locking. a sure way to know if a calipers locking or dragging is to drive it after dark. after a 10mile trip, look at each wheel for a glow behind the wheel. the vents in your wheel should be open so you can see. if you have full wheel hubcaps, remove them before you drive it, you must be able to see the brake rotors behind the wheel to see if they are glowing. slotted rims are fine to see through. that's one sure way to know for sure if the calipers are locking and which one is bad and which ones are'nt. and as always if you need further assistance, please repost your question and we'll be happy to assist. thank you for choosing fixya .com

Will a13in 4-100 rim off a honda fit on a 2005 hyundai accent

The bolt pattern may be the same (Hyundai accent uses 4 x 100 bolt pattern) but the wheel centre bore size and wheel offset are likely to be different. There may also be brake clearance issues. The only effective way to deal with this is to check some of the basic wheel specs and then do a test fit on the car. If the wheel's centre bore size is too small for the Hyundai hub you won't even need to do a test fit as the wheel cannot be used.

1. Center Bore

If the Honda wheel has the same or a larger centre bore size then they will fit on the hub but if larger you will need hub rings to fill the gap between the centre bore and the hub. If you do not fit the hub centric rings you will get vibrations (like an out of balance wheel gives you) as the wheel will not be properly centred on the hub.

If the Honda wheel has a smaller centre bore then it will not fit over the Hyundai hub and you cannot use it.

2. Brake Caliper Clearance

Manufacturers design their stock wheels to clear the size of brake calipers they use but sometimes these clearances are very small.

The Honda wheel may or may not clear the brake calipers when you bolt it on, (which is primarily a factor of both wheel and brake design), and in that event you cannot use it.

3. Offset

The Honda and Hyundai stock wheels will have different offsets.

If the Honda wheel has a much higher offset measurement it may not have sufficient clearance on the inside of the wheel well because the higher offsets places the wheel rim further inside the wheel well.

If the Honda wheel has a much lower offset, this places the wheel rim further to the outside of the vehicle. This is less of an issue unless the tires hit the guards when you get a great deal of suspension movement or the tyres extend out beyond the guards which is illegal.

How do you get the hub off?

hi from uk to remove rotors/ discs as in uk remove wheel then remove the sprung clip that holds caliper to mounting remember how fitted ! then remove the 2 x bolts securing caliper to the carrier these are at rear of caliper then remove caliper carefully as not to put undue strain on hose ? the rotors/discs are simply secured to the hub assy with 2x countersunk crossheaded bolts/screwed into hub then you may need to tap disc/rotor firmly from b/hind to remove off hub ? reassembly is reverse proceedure just one bit of advice ! these contersunk bolts can round off the x/head but if you use a good driver and hitimpact the driver in bolt it usually frees em or if you have impact driver ? no problem ! if the bolts fail to come out? do not worry ! just drill off the head of bolt and remove disc/rotor these bolts are onle fitted to keep the wheel bolt holes in line with rotor when wheel is removed so play no part in braking !hope this explains clear to you remember !new rotors new pads! not old ones and make sure you bleed the both brake calipers to rid of old fluid from calipers this will make a dfference to your brake feel and operation/travel of pedal good luck

How to remove disc brakes for a 2001 hyundai accent

OK..Once you have the wheel off and you are looking at the brakes at the top of the caliper there is a bolt. This one bolt needs to be loosened and then removed. From there the caliper will swing up and off. Have something handy to hold the caliper out of the way so that it does not hang down. I have owned an "02" and an "05" There may be a bottom bolt on your caliper but if it is like the others you can remove the caliper with just the top bolt being removed. Then just take the outer brake pad out and replace it with the new one, and then do the same for the inner brake pad. Making sure that the new pad for the inside does have the sensor. From there using a "C clamp" put one end on the outside of the caliper and the other end on the inside and turn it so that the caliper will withdraw. This needs to be done so that the caliper will fit over the new brake pads which are thicker. Then just slide the caliper back into place, tighten the top bolt and put the wheel back on. Make sure and start the car and pump the brakes a few times so that the caliper will make contact with the new brake pads. From there you should be good to go.

How do i change the front brake pads

First make sure you have the park brake on
Raise the front end make sure to support with jack stands
Remove tires

this should leave the front brakes exposed

there are two slide bolts holding the caliper in place loosen both and remove

then wedge a screw driver between the inner pad and the rotor and lightly pry towards you to take some pressure off of the caliper

you should now be able to lift off the caliper it will still have the brake line attached to it so be sure to secure it to something ie a bungie strap to the suspension or something do not just let it hang by the brake line

slide out the old pads out of the caliper mounting braket

now take a caliper press and push the piston back into the brake caliper use the old inner pad do not push directly on the caliper piston (if you dont have a caliper press just substitute a c clamp it works fine)

if replacing the rotors remove the caliper bracket once again two bolts

remove the caliper bracket

remove rotor

Make Sure to inspect the caliper for leaks or damage

To install reverse and youll be done before you know it

Make sure to lube slide pins with a small amount of brake grease and make sure the caliper moves freely apon installation

After you have done both sides

set down car and slowly pump the brake pedal about 15 times to close the distance between caliper piston and brake pads thats all

I hope this helps

Replacing brakes

hiya bonnie if you intend to DIY the brakes ? front pads? or rear shoes ? the front pads are easy enough for you to change in fact the pads/and calipers are virtually the same as ford and peugeot they are sliding type calipers that are held in position by 2x bolts that screw into the pins from rear of caliper when bolts removed the caliper pulls off reassembly is reverse after you push piston back the pads fit into the caliper carrier then refit/secure the caliper and pump brake pedal to take up the pads to discs B4 you move car then!bleed each brake a couple of pumps till fluid is clean the fluid that comes out first will be dirty due to heat absorbsion resulting in spongy pedal you will find pedal is more positive/hard when you bleedbrakes as i suggested brake fluid does absorb heat and moisture over time that is why it is recommended you bleed fluid to clear old fluid in lines nearest the cylinders hope this helps ? if you req further help come back will be glad to help best wishes from rochdale
