I changed my battery in my 2005 cadillac sts, and now it is showing that the starter is locked. fob locks and unlocks the car, but i can't get car to start. what do i do?

You can try this, with the battery connected lock the car using the key fob, make sure no keys are in the ignition. Disconnect the battery again and let it sit for 30 min or so, reconnect the battery and using the key fob unlock the car, it should start, if not repeat the procedure and insert the key into the door lock to unlock the car, both of these solutions should reset the security system. Good luck.

It actually sounds like the micro switch in the drivers door that reads the key fob is bad, if the key works and the fob works on the other doors and the trunk. You will most likely need to have the door handle replaced, they're not very expensive by themselves but it can be a lot of work. I changed battery in remote keypad and now i can't get into the car. Already tried hold the lock and unlock on the keypad down for 15 seconds and still didn't work.
Remote Key FOB Information
Transmitter Programming
1. Close all the vehicle doors.
2. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.
3. Press and hold the door unlock switch.
4. While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.
5. Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.
6. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.
7. Repeat the previous step to program up to 4 transmitters.
8. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter programming mode.
9. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.
If this does not work, you may need to have the dealer do it with a scan tool. Make sure you take all the remotes you want to use with the car if you have to go this route.

Two things to check:

Replace the fob batteries or reprogram. Here's how to reprogram them:

Connect a scan tool.
Select diagnostics.
Select body code.
Select body style code.
Select other.
Select remote function actuator (RFA).
Select special functions.
Select F0 program key fobs.
Choose the fob number that you wish to program.
Follow the screen prompts in order to complete the programming procedure.
Press and hold the lock and the unlock buttons on the transmitter being programmed. The door locks will cycle. This should take about 15 seconds.
Proceed to the next transmitter and repeat steps 1-11 until all of the transmitters are complete.
Exit the remote keyless entry (RKE) programming.
Disconnect the scan tool.
Cycle the ignition. Test the transmitters for proper operation.

NO FOB DETECTED
Slight glitch from what I've found. Has happened to me at the gas pump. One other time while talking outside my car with out opening the doors. If No FOB detected then step out of the car lock and unlock, get back in and try. If still dosen't detect then you need to walk twenty feet away with your key and it should reset.
