When I start my car for the first time each day there is always a rough vibrating rumble sound. My husband said it is the transmission but 1. he never even looked or listened 2. my ****** acts just fine. I think it has something to do with humidity and the exhaust system? I can't begin to really describe it but if it's cold out it's constant, if it warms up during the day then it goes away most of the time. It recently started getting cooler out and it's started doing this again, it never did it all summer.
Top the transmition up with oil normally you get vibration when there isn't enough fluid in the box when it warms up the gears expand and vibration goes away but it will balls the transmission up eventually
Have the fault codes read first
then take it to an exhaust shop and have the cat converter checked out for serviceability

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with your problem.. but in 2002 there was a recall on the 01 & 02 santa fe's w/ the 2.7L engine for improperly manufactured crankshaft position sensors and internal gaps within the cases allowing epoxy to contact the printed circuil board, which resulted in cracking of the printed circuit board capacitor. A damaged capacitor could result in engine stalling. Recall campaign number 03V030000

More maintenance history required. Did this happen ALL OF A SUDDEN? The possible causes are numerous (i.e., ignition, fuel, fuel pressure, vacuum leak, valve timing, timing belt, crank position sensor, bad plugs, bad ignition wires, ECM failure, Coil failure, wiring, injectors, fuel pump, and the list goes on and on and on. Does the Check Engine light come ON when this happens? Whenever the "Check Engine" light comes on, there is always a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) stored in the ECM (Engine Control Module). You'll need an OBDII (On-Board-Diagnostics) scanner to retrieve any codes recorded/set in ECM. Once you do this and let us know what, if any codes are set, then we can go from there. If not, then take/tow the vehicle into a Hyundai Service Center (dealership), pay the diagnostic fee. They will tell you EXACTLY what the problem is and what's needed to fix it (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.).
