My 1997 SW2 does the same thing, flashes on and off, but goes off after it warm off. A stuck thermostat makes no sence to me as the light flashes when cold and goes of when hot. It seems to me that a blocked hose or a stuch thermostat the opposite would happen. The light would be off when cold and flash after the engine warmed up. Anyone else have a solution?
I have to take my hat off to Ronnieh49 for his solution. I still do not understand how this could be possibe, and I have worked on all of my cars since about 1955, but I changed the thermostat anyway. IT WAS A FIX. This light serves three purposes, trans. temp, coolent temp, and collent level. I thought that I still had a problem when I went for a test drive as the light came on flashing again after about 10 minutes. This is because, eventhough I toped off the collent tank, the level wend down enough to show a low coolent level because the air in the system worked its way out and used up the antifreeze that was in the tank. I again filled it up to the full level, went for a test drive, and it worked fine. Thanks a million Ronnieh49.
