If I give it a little gas it would usually pick right back up but now it got worse. I just replaced the down stream O2 sensor before this started.
Two similar problems for me: (1) after 20min cool down jeep would sputter/buck due to bad o2 exhaust manifold sensor. The other was jeep would buck/misfire/lurch under certain driving conditions. I found that battery was sliding into computer wiring harness, disrupting sensor input/output signals. I cured this problem by placing a 1" spacer on rear battery clamp to push battery forward. This forever cured this problem (been years now and no problem).
Try new spark parts yet, called a tuneup.
?
on this old, wires and spark plugs.
i pay no attention to the CEL, i scan them all
you do know that the CEL does not come on for all fails.
and in canada, lots more. missing.
scan it , and do so when it messes up in WIN.
my guess,no full tuneup for last decade.
right>?

did you check voltage to sensors if you need help with proedure, contact me, or you may try patrs houses on line in how to section.

I would check to be sure that the timing chain hasn't jumped at all ..

check the fuel pump fuse/relay, could be just bad enough to cause an intermittent start/no start. and check fuel pressure, spark and the crank position sensor.

I just had this problem and replaced the camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, and coolant temp sensor. i replaced these items because of high mileage. try these but first check your relays located under the hood on the passenger side. sometimes they get hot and fail.

Can't tell you exactly what is wrong but the one thing you said is of concern...Map sensor should not be full of oil. If it is, I'd want to know why. In finding the reason for that, you may also find the reason why you are having a problem.
Jeep uses two kinds of engine crank venting. you either have a pcv valve or an orifice controlled system. If either are obstructed it can overpressure the crankcase and cause all kinds of problems.
Years of experience tells me this isn't something I can guess at and be 100% sure I have the right answer but based on what you said, I'd look there first!

similar problem related to exhaust manifold 02 sensor and battery sliding into computer wiring harness disrupting sensor input/output signals. placed 1" spacer on rear battery clamp to push battery forward cured my problem.
