Changed motor cylinder on 2001 kia and now it wont alow me to put gas in, it wont start its absolutely lock down.........it has tekguard alarm system could this couse all of this problems??

Car was over heating and mechanic changed motor cylinder. after we brought car home i went to put gas in it but it wont let nuzzle in just shoot it out. I pulled out and park it, but when i try to start the car nothing happened not even a crank. Changed battery and still nothing. It has tekguard anti theft alarm..could the alarm lock them down and how do you disassemble it

Seems as though you are worrying about stuff the repairer should be worrying about. As this happened so soon after collecting it the problem is likely to be connected to the repair.

You should contact the repairer and explore the possibility before proceeding further.

The fuse box may have gone bad and your getting electrical shorting. Check the fuse box under the hood that may have gone bad and may need to be replaced, look for corrosion where the fuse goes into and the wire harness. Don't know if you had your car since new, but there are a lot of cars from the Katrina Hurricane that was under water and the electrical system have major corrosion that should just be showing up now. i had the same vehicle and my code was 8040. What really bothered me was this car was sooooo cheap, the stereo was cheap, the whole integrity of the car is cheap, however they have an anti theft on the stereo. ha ha lol! Don't spend any money trying to figure it out, either pick up a new stereo or give the car away!

take it to a shop were they can hook up ur car to a computer and delete the problems and turn off ur alarm

My 98 kia sportage wont start

It sounds like the key sensor in the drivers door is malfunctioning, the drivers door is the only door that can enable/disable the alarm, if you try to unlock any of the others it will trigger the alarm.

Sometimes with my Kia I have to (without opening the door), cycle lock and unlock several times before the alarm is disarmed.

Have you tried this is succession, with all the doors locked:-

put the key in the drivers door, turn to lock and then to unlock, the alarm should disarm.

Also, if any of the door locks are jammed, the alarm will still activate when you try to unlock the drivers door.

If that fails and the alarm still activates, then it's a problem with the key sensor in the door.

The anti- theft system has nothing to do with the cranking of the starter . Disables fuel injectors so the engine doesn't run .
The theft deterrent system has been incorporated into the body control module (BCM). The theft deterrent is provided in order to prevent the vehicle operation if the correct key is not used in order to start the vehicle. The ignition key turns the lock cylinder. The cylinder rotation produces an analog voltage code in the Passlock™ sensor. This voltage code is received by the BCM. The BCM compares the voltage code to the previously learned voltage code. If the codes match, a class 2 message is sent from the BCM to the powertrain control module (PCM)/vehicle control module (VCM). The message enables the fuel injectors.

Open the trunk with the key, it will disable the alarm. You probably need a new door lock cylinder, which you should look into. They're easy to replace, but take a while to get, as they have to be coded for your key. You can also remove the door lock cylinder by loosening the t20 torx screw near the door handle until the lock cylinder slides out(DO NOT LOOSEN MORE THAN NECESSARY TO GET THE LOCK CYLINDER OUT), then use a flathead screwdriver through the hole to activate the lock.

ok on that model of bmw you need to change the mass air flow sensor it controlls the injectors that alow it gas i had the same issue with my old bmw

Engine misfire from 1 & 4 changed spark

Did you use the right plugs?
Pull them all out, inspec, them for phisical damage.
Son put theplug for the 2.4 instead of the plugs for the 2.2 in his cavalier and he only clipped one with a piston (Missfire)
Do you have the fireing order correct?

what does your "mechanic" say was the fault codes in memory
after properly wiping memory for a fresh start
and a short drive ?

I thought it was only gm products that required a map sensor cal

but maybe kia does too

map= Manifold Absolute Pressure this little box measures the pressure in your
manifold the place where the air goes into cylinders when not properly calibrated
or malfunctioning
they lie to the eec and it adds too much fuel and richen up the gas the injectors shoot into cylinders
and drive down cylinder temps and you fail the smog test too much Hydrocarbons (gas)
but usually the O2 sensor in tailpipe will counter this I wonder why not in this case ?

Hello Kia Owner,
Regarding the shut down, when was the last time you changed the timing belt?? Did you know that the twin cam 1.5 lirte motor needs a new belt every 50,000 miles or 80,000 kms.
If the belt has failed it may still be in tact but with the cogs ripped off.
Your valves have collided with at least one piston but it is good you were only idling at the time.
The motor may be worth fixing. I just fixed mine myself. I had to lift the engine after removing the axles. I removed the old timing belt and removed and rebuilt the cylinder head(big job). Two exhaust valves were boken right off and lying inside one cylinder.
Most likely your timing belt failed as well.

Car wont start oe even crank.

some cars have a problem when you change the car radio it can trigger the alarm system the alarm may think that car was being stollen and kicked in the immobiser which would turn off the starter motor which is giving the affect the batts flat,, plus a lot of the ford and vauxhalls when this happens it also shuts down the fuel pump, or ignition ,, if you have the key pad to lock and unlock car use this a couple of times this can reset the system . if not it may have to go to the main dealer to do a computor check to find fault and may be 10 mins to put right ,, matdav69
