I have a 1989 gmc siverado 1500 series with a 350 TBI carb. When started cold it wont stay running unless i pump the fuel pedal. Once motor is warm it runs fine. Ive rebuilt carb , replaced fuel filter . And even swaped carbs (tbi) from another good running truck . But problem still persist. Any ideas?

I was going to say look at the fuel injectors in the TBI fuel injection..You can see the injetors when you take the breather off and the spacer..They should be both flowing without any drips..But you said you tried another one..You do have a few electronics on that..I would check the ECT sensor..It detects the coolant temp,,and determines if its a cold start or a warm start..Is there anyone that can scanned it for you..Its a first generation computer but someone should have the connections to scanned it..

I'm having the same trouble with the flooding after warm start...if it's the temp sensor, would the temp gauge be working? It's in a 1991 Chevy van with an injected 350 carb.

Try using a good fuel line/injector cleaner Seafoam is a good one. If this does not help you may have tone or more clogged injectors. Clean these out and you should be good to go. tTo see Seafoam in action goto you tube type Seafoam into the search box.

SOURCE: 90 chevy 350 with TBI starts but wont stay running

I have a 90 chevy k1500 350 tbi with same problem! I have traced problem to... after turning on key fuel pump kicks on when u crank it over injectors shoot gas and truck starts! After few seconds injectors stop spraying and truck dies! This can happen many times over and over! Eventually sometimes truck stays running and all is great! I changed ignition module, oil pressure sending unit (which i was told controls gas after vehicle is running) fuel filter, computer, fuel pump relay, I am at a loss now! Hope this helps and hope someone can help me!

try bypassing the oil pressure switch on the back of the block behind the distributor, if there oil pressure switch goes bad it will do this. had one that drove me nuts trying to fix it then figured out I had to buy a book and low and behold thee it was 3 wire oil pressure switch you can't see between the engine and fire wall just behind the distributor and costs 8 bucks to buy new.

1989 gmc once it warms up it starts to flood it self out

Are you sure it's flooding or starving itself of gas? Rent a fuel pressure gauge from auto zone and check your fuel pressure is exactly what it is supposed to be. Fuel pump can warm itself up and and kinda fizzle out so check when warm and cold.

1989 full size blazer with 350 TBI. Starts when cold if I push pedal to floor and won't start at all if I dont floor it. Then motor starts to load up with lots of black smoke out of exaust and stalls after...

Do a full blown fuel system cleaning and replace fuel filter. If you can, check the SeaFoam.com site on cleaning procedures. It works great for bringing the dead (stored/parked) back to life. FWIW, mashing the pedal to floor on those older TBIs actually turns fuel off on start ups. Run a good cleaner through it (sounds like injector is gummed up)

Truck wont start or stay on unless fuel/starter fluid is used. Checked the fuel pump and that good, it looks like the TBI wont get fuel?

check the filter and the press regulator. if you can, check the pressure from the pump and to the injectors. it might be a sensor, or the computer. hope not. check the tbi connectors for power.

1989 truck stalls when hot.

Have you chg. fuel filter? If so, best to do a fuel pressure test, sometimes( not always) when the pump gets warmed up they can loose a little pressure and thats all it takes just a few # under recamended p.s.i and the truck quits running, you may hear the pump run but its not putting out the correct pressure until it cools down and it starts working again, but after a while quit all together.

Carberator problem - holly carb on chevy 350 motor

You are correct, there is a float inside a holley 4 barrel fuel bowl.
Is the electric fuel pump regulated? If the fuel pressure is above 8 lbs, you could run into this issue or the float / needle / seat could have a problem or miss adjusted.

By the way, a 2007 GMC is not carbureted so I assume this is not the vehicle or it has been modified.

Good luck.
