I removed the 3 knobs; and screws behind 2 of the knobs. But it didn't seem loose. I tried to pry (carefully) but it didn't want to budge. I was afraid something was going to break.
Yeah , something would have broke for real had you pried it any more.
There is a bulb just below the control panel that lights the panel up... and more screws to remove to access it. The ones behind the knobs need to be replaced ( they hold the switches to the face plate), and you need to unscrew the ones behind the trim and above the ash tray.
The trim comes off in one piece (held by clips).

"The trim comes off in one piece (held by clips)." ... I've pried around the edges of the trim ... a little. But, was afraid something was going to break. Is there a certain way to pry? ... or location?
Got it off ! There appears to be only 1 tiny light bulb that is in a housing above the ash tray; and it appears to give light down towards the ashtray. I can't find another one.
