This check engine light came on earlier this week on my 2000 Toyota Corolla . A fellow at work plugged in his "reader" and got the obd code of p0440. He shut the light off. I don't need a sticker until June 2009. My check engine light has come on and off for a couple of years, usually showing an 02 sensor problem. Is there anything I should do now, or can I wait until June 2009? I don't want to spend more money on tis "idiot" light if I don't have to. Thanks!
P0440 code means that the evap system has a leak. This could be caused by a bad or improperly installed gas cap. Either that or the purge solenoid has failed or the canister is plugged and not working properly.
