Generally if it is a sensor you should be able to retrieve a fault code. Other things to chek, timing, vacuum leaks, EGR. valve, fuel filter, plugged injectors, spark plug ( gap ), lead wires, distributor cap, rotor.Hope that this will help you. Good luck and remember to rate all replies you get. Thanx.

Have 1994 Cougar. When idling down upon braking such as slowing for stop sign or light, engine idles roughly. After driving short distances car emits smell like rotten eggs. Had diagnostic run and results...

The most common causes of the smell are faulty catalytic converter, an engine running too hot or a faulty fuel pressure regulator. Another minor reason could be if your using a new place to buy fuel as different companies use different additives in their fuel.

1994 Chevrolet Camaro unstable idle

You could have a faulty Crankshaft sensor, when you went through the flood, the crankshaft sensor wire leads may have gotten damaged or the sensor it self and your going to need to replace it. The sensor sends signal to the ECM which will control your fuel and and timing to each cylinder. Start with that and the sensor is located on the passenger side on the harmonic balance and you can pick on up at Auto Zone, Part Source ad they will have the step by step instructions for you to replace the sensor. Here is a link for you to also retrieve any DTC codes your ECM has saved that may be causing your engine's issues. http://www.troublecodes.net/GM/

Good luck and thank you for using Fixya.

Listen for a hissing sound you could have a vacum leak . spray carb cleaner around the thodle body and the intake to see if you have a bad gasket or just needs to be tighting.also check the choke and throdle pationing sensor it could be stuck open!

94 camaro

if you are not the original owner then the previos owner may have set the idle higher htan normal, take off the throttle body then unscrew the little screw, SOME, if your car runs at a high but rough idle then you may have a vacuum leak.
