Heater blower still works, as does the mileage display. The gauges go dead, accessories do not work wipers power windows ect.... I can unplug the ignition switch entirely and car still runs. There was a Viper security system installed on this car.... I have ripped that POS out. Thank God it is a stick and I can stall it out, but I must unhook battery when parked for a long time. But this resets the trip ometer as well.

Where is the water pump on 94 BMW 318, Is it behind the Fan or a seperate unit. is it easy to replace?

1st thing to check is the coolant level. Low coolant level results in no, or little heat (not enough coolant to circulate thru the heater core). What does your engine temp gauge indicate? (or is it just a warning light?) If the car is running at what appears to be lower than normal temp., u may have a thermostat that's stuck open. This would cause the engine to not reach operating temp, and u would not have heat. Check the above 2 items 1st, then let me know what u found. If that doesn't fix it, we will continue, let's do the easy and not too expensive stuff 1st!

you will have to take the car to the dealer. upon showing proof of ownership they can retrieve the code. if you know the dealer that sold the car new they may have it on file. if not they will have to remove the radio and use the serial number off it to go onto their computer database to get it. I think its really silly to have security codes on factory radios.

Sound like the key barrel is broken, remove the swith from the back of the ignigtion and check the barrel.
