You need to check that you have an electrical signal to the lock when the alarm is activated.Use a testlight/probe.Unplug at rear lock activating unit.hold test light to positive side and activate alarm,if you have a power signal the lock activator is suspect but also check that the mechanical part of the lock is free moving and not resistant to being moved.Does the central locking work on the back doors with the original system? If it does the problem is with the immobiliser. If it doesnt then the lock activator area would be the likely place to look for the fault.

Tailgate will not open

If you have a Subaru alarm system, you need to press unlock twice in quick succession to unlock the tailgate (and the passenger doors).

There is also a 30mm round access panel on the tailgate inside trim panel. You can stick your finger in an unlock the tailgate. Your tailgate outside lock handle may be rusted solid, which is jamming the lock.

Auto tailgate warning light is on dash board but tailgate closed.

I have a similar problem, my tailgate stopped working with the outside handle and the remote but can be opened manually from the inside. I don't have an alarm so there is no problem with that but did you get a solution for the tailgate problem that I could try?

Alarm keeps going off when driveing, problam with

Hi, check that the pipe going to the rear washer jet hasn't become disconnected from the jet (inside the tailgate). If it has the water from the pipe runs down the inside of the tailgate and contaminates the lock assembly and alarm microswitch. Remove the tailgate liner to check. Hope that helps Matt.

Body repair was done to tailgate under area of rear windshield wiper and bottom right corner due to right rear hit and run... motor on the windshield wiper had to be adjusted after work was done. Now,...

take it back to the people that did the body work, it is assumed that when they do the work the locks would be working correctly. Anything they touch as part of the work has to be fixed before giving it back to you unless you agreed to the problem.

1996 Isuzu Rodeo stuck tail gate

Remove the interior trim panel which will not be easy since the gate is up ---- you can then access the lock mechanism and will probably find a bent linkage rod or a broken plastic retainer clip.

2002 nissian frontier tailgate is stuck

First thing: Try using the key to move to the locked and then to the unlocked position. If this works, open the tailgate... This also pretty much tells you what the root cause problem is, which is a pressed-in plastic post working its way out (see below).

If no bedliner, just remove metal plate inside tailgate and actuate by hand inside to open. If bedliner, first use a small screwdriver to carefully (don't scratch paint) push in latches at either side of tailgate to open/lower tailgate (if locking/unlocking as above did not work to lower gate and gain access). Next, use two blade screwdrivers to pry out the "buttons" that hold the ends of the tailgate liner where they wrap around the sides, then remove bedliner piece and metal plate, etc.

Once you have access to inside of tailgate, you will see how the mechanism works by pulling up and down on the handle while observing. You will probably find that the slide mechism that locks and unlocks the mechanism has been allowed to move such that it cannot unlock/allow movement of the latching mechanism. This is usually the result of the pressed in plastic anchor being worn/loose. I had some success with cleaning thoroughly with alcohol or brake cleaner, allowing to dry and then using super glue to hold it firmly in all the way. Still have to hold handle up when closing gate and keep key on hand to unlock every time opening, but it was a free repair...

The VW Golf (2002) I have is setting off the alarm, the dash indicates that the tailgate is open, but appears to be closed. Is there a sensor on the tailgate that may be faulty?

The micro-switch is fitted inthe lock of the tailgate.Try opening the tailgate and manually close the lock and see if the boot light and the dash indicater light go off,if not, replace boot lock.If the lights go off, tailgate not closing properly, adjust the boot lock catch.Good luck
