SOURCE: LOSS OF POWER

number of things
1 fuel injectors
2 worn throttle body
3 inside gas tank sending unit filter needs replaced
4 a/c compressor failing
5 replace air filter
6 depending on mileage of vehicle worn cam, bearings oil rings
7 oil and water mixing together (oil will look like chocolate milk on dipstick if this happens
8 not enough air from the electric fan in front of vehicle (hook constant power and a switch with power key off)
9 wrong fuel type (maybe you car requires premium)
10 alternator wareing out and makeing a slow drop in power
11 binding brakes or emergency brake line binding
12 worn sparks plugs wires and electrical unit that houses this
13 worn capacitor looks like a little tear can with power points on it

this is just basic diagnosing without being there to see the vehicle in person these are the things right off the top of my head that i can help diagnose right now
some of these things wont show on a diagnostic cause there more mechanical and sensors wear with mechanical
hope this helped you in your quest

SOURCE: 2006 VW tdi black smoke while accelerating

I have the same problem. Do you have a DSG transmission? There are complaints on VW clubs about this problem. It seemed like an engine control issue but it is actually a confused transmission in my case. It seems to have trouble engaging and must send a signal to the engine to kill power. Recalibrating the transmission with VAG-COM made the problem go from a 3x daily issue to a weekly one. I have read that the DSG is very sensitive to oil levels. I am going to set mine properly and see if it helps. The calibration/adaptation only takes 10 minutes with VAG-COM

Tdi troubleshooting

Hi Are there any faults stored. I would start with the spark plugs and checking for a misfire.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 8Cyl4.7L When when driving over 50 miles per hour will lose all power whats wrong?

When you say it loses power, do you mean electrical power or engine power ?
You would need to look at the fuse boxes for a loss of electrical power, and use a scanner or code reader to check the computer for trouble codes for a loss of engine power.

1999.5 Jetta TDI: Loss of acceleration at speed.

the turbo has no effect on blower motor performance. you may have a bad turbo but you may also have a bad blower motor or a low freon level on the a/c system.

2001 acura cl Type s ... engine bucking on accelaeration and check engine light came on. replaced coil and all sparkplugs. Problem sort of corrected but subtle shake at accelaration at 80 kms per hr, and...

could be the knock sensor or faulty cam or crank sensor. one of these could be failing but it's recommended to read the engine codes with a scanner as it will tell you the exact fault.

Loss of power, glow plug light flashes, cruise control intermittent.

Check for intake blockage (coking). May also be a bad turbo-charger actuator pod or something as easy as a Mass Airflow Meter.

19 tdi loss of power

I have a 1999 VW golf tdi with intermittent loss of power. The turbo will cut in for a few seconds, then die forcing you to change gear and get a small boost again. The turbo will not boost much past 2200 rpm. The cars computer has been plugged in at the garage and does not show any problems. Various people have said, replace turbo, air mass meter or just simply wash turbo filters in WD40. Can anyone help?
