My 1995 honda accord V6 2.7L's tachometer jumps around time to time and the engine cuts out. It is not all the time but frequently. I replaced the spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, but still nothing. I have been looking for a loose ground but have found none. Any suggestions on something else to look for or a more specific location to look for loose wires?
I had the same problem with my 1995 Honda Accord V6 2.7L a year ago. It was a pain to have Honda diagnose the problem because it was intermittent and every time I took my car in to the dealership they said they couldn't reproduce the problem, but the longer you wait the more frequently your tachometer will fluctuate. I finally stopped by the dealership when the tachometer was jumping and they were able to diagnose the problem. In my case there was a faulty resistor in the ignition coil, but the entire ignition coil needs to be replaced. I don't know anything about cars but I know this fixed my problem. I went directly though Honda's service center so I know they charged me more than an independent repair shop but I'm looking at my invoice now and I paid $150 for the ignition coil and $200 for labor. After Honda diagnosed the problem I searched for "1995 honda accord ignition coil tachometer" and found that other people had the same problem and replacing the ignition coil was the fix. Hope this helps.
I had this same problem, replaced the ignition coil, igniter, spark plugs, distributor cap
Mrjizzo let me give u some advice for the future. When it comes to these 95 v6 accords, Honda will take u for a ride in charges. If u don't know how to do the work yourself look it up on u tube. Cause I replaced all plugs and wires and fully removed ans cleaned my distributor cap and rotor and coil pack in under an hour. And the coil is a 80 dollar part. There's no way it took Honda over two hours to replace that. If u ever see this comment and have questions u can reach me at [email protected]. I've got a full jdm swap 2.7l and these things are a pain to repair cause they r rare. But I can tell u a lot about this car.
@Jeremy - Thanks for the advice, however, I have since sold my '95 Accord. I haven't spent any time under the hood -- hence taking my car to the dealership service center to get overcharged -- so most of the stuff you said sounds like Greek to me. Anyways, I hope you were able to fix the issue with your Accord.
