1994 toyota pickup 4wd 22re hesitation and stalling

Im about to drive this truck off a cliff!! About 3 months ago i was getting on the highway, was in 3rd gear, pressed the gas, and the truck hesitated for a second, then kicked in and was fine. over these last 3 months the hesitation has ben getting progressively worse, and now sometimes it wont start, or will stall while im driving if i dont constantly give it gas. I took it to my mechanic and he replaced the coolant temp sensor, which did nothing. He couldnt figure it out, and didnt have a diagnostic machine that could check for problems on a 94 toyota. So i took the truck to the Toyota dealership, and they told me i had a short in my MAF sensor at idle. They wanted $1100 to fix and i told them to screw. I bought a used MAF sensor, installed it... nothing changed. I took the truck to another mechanic to get a third opinion and he wanted $140 to diagnose it, and suggested i buy a refurb MAF sensor. So i took his advice and did that, still nothing changed. I replaced the plugs, wires, air filter, changed the oil and checked the pcv valve which was fine. Still, nothing changed. When i pulled the plugs, each plug was half black, half white... i don't know what else to do... any advice would be awesome. thanks. oh, by the way, the truck is spitting black smoke when it decides to run like ****. Sometimes it runs fine, other times it doesn't want to move. Its day or night, no in between with this thing.

My 1994 toyota pickup 4wd is fine when first started then as it warms up it hesitates just replaced wiring, cat and muffler. Coding said it was the knock sensor try that the code is 52 and replace the o2 sensor. Then take it to your mechanic and have them reset the computer that worked for me. Good luck

Do this for me, when the engine is running bad:

Under the hood, with the engine running, and the Check Engine light on, look for a small rectangular grey box, with small female terminals in it. Observe the inside of the lid, and determine where the connectors "E1" and "Te1" are. Using a standard paper clip, or anything else that you may have that fits into the connectors, jump "E1" and "Te1".

Count the flashes of the check engine light. Example: 2 flashes-pause-4 flashes = code "24"

Get the code back to me so we can try to fix your problem. Note that you can only get the code when the problem is occurring.

The 94 trucks do not have a code "memory". Not running bad = no code.

I think you have a problem in the engine wiring harness, I have seen this issue before, and it was a wire broken inside the insulation.

Please advise me if the Check Engine light is on or not.

When the timing chains stretch( and they do!) they can cause the 22re to stumble intermittently. Have trouble starting, misfiring, and even some trouble codes But first check your engine for codes You can do this by jumping TE1 and E1

If you have codes we can go from there.
You should pull your valve cover and check you timing chain tension, it should be very tight and not loose. if it is loose it is most likely time for a new chain and/ or tension and guides. I always replace them as a kit. Keep in mind that if the chain is worn it will get progressively worse until the engine will not run or the chain will wear in to the water galleys behind the water pump on the timing chain cover. sorry man.

I also think you should look more on the exhaust side. Bad cat can give bad readings to your o2

How do i replace the wheel bearings in the front of a 1994 toyota pickup 4wd 4cy 22re?

You will have to take the wheel hub assembly off the vehicle. Which means you will have to remove the calipers, detach the tie rods, loosen the ball joints, and the strut assembly. Then remove the hub locks and the axle retaining nut. Take the hub and new bearings to a machine shop and have the old ones pressed out and the new ones pressed in. The wheel bearings have to be pressed in and out to prevent any damage to the hub itself.

91 toyota 22re pickup stalls on idle

May have a plugged catalitic conveter or muffler. So do you know which plug is #1? the very front one also make sure that you start with the number one plug slot it shold be marked with 1 then go around it, you may have damaged the plug wires when pulling them off. And Buy OEM for your toyota there are plugs that just won't run in the toyota engines also set the gap on the plugs they are never right from the store.

the color of the plastic plug does not matter... You will have two injector plugs with white/red and yellow wires - those two go to cyl#'s 1 and 3.
the other two plugs will have white and blur wires.. those two plugs go to injectors # 2 and 4.
