Idle air control valve not working properly idle speed too low faulty transmission tcc solenoid both problems will set off check engine light.replace fuel filter and air filter, clean fuel injectors.
So far no check engine light, but I have considered fuel filter change. But I have never changed one on this vehicle. I will change Air filter and add fuel injector cleaner today. Any hints on fuel filter replacement would be appreciated.
if you never change fuel filter before, best to let mechanic replace fuel filter but to do the job let car set all night to let fuel pressure bleed off. you need remove gas cap, safely raise rear of vechicle, support vechicle with jack stands, make sure vechicle sitting on level solid ground.you need rags and drain pan.look at far upper end gas tank where tail located you will see fuel filter, you need to remove filter bracket attaching bolt you need to disconnect quick connect fitting by pressing both tabs in to unlock them so you can slide quick connect fitting line away from fuel filter, then you need a metric inline flare wrench and adjust wrench to hold fuel filter large nut attach to filter while you loosen fuel line nut on fuel line. when you loosen fuel line some gas will run out so wear safety glasses use rags and drain pan to catch residue gas left in fuel filter and lines.let gas drain quick dripping then you need to remove small o ring on fuel line going to fuel filter, need to go to dealership or auto parts stores you need o ring dont use the black universal o ring it is not gas resistent it has to be the same tan color o ring that came off fuel line, any other o ring gasoline will destroy it and cause fuel leak. when you replace new o ring you need apply few drops clean engine oil on new o ring. then be careful when you install new o ring on fuel line dont cut or damage o ring.when o ring in place then install the fuel filter in bracket hold it in place while you slowly hand screw nut in to fuel filter be careful dont cross thread fuel filter nut and damage o ring while screwing nut into fuel filter when fuel line nut start to get tight take flare metric wrench tighten fuel line nut not too tight just 1/4 inch more tight.then take your quick disconnect fitting line push it in fuel filter until locking tabs click and lock in place, then try pull on quick disconnect fitting make sure its lock in place dont come off, then install the fuel filter bracket bolt back in place then put gas cap back in place then.then turn on ignition for few seconds see if gas is leaking if so fuel filter o ring is damaged or fuel line still little loose.if fuel have fuel leak turn off ignition.raise hood located fuel pressure test port on fuel line with a schrader valve and cap remove schrader valve cap take very small screw driver with rag in place press the schrader valve stem some gas will squirt out make sure rag catch gas.when you press valve the excess gas will return to the gas tank then you can fix leak at fuel filter if it does leak.warning dont do this job if you not sure you can because fuel is under 40 psi pressure. if you get heavy leak gas will spray all under car catch car fire and you a fire if this is your first time dont do it let a garage fix replacing fuel filter wont cost that much.
