Have 2001 Hundai Tiburon....check engine light stays on...had put on anylizer at Auto Zone and they said it has to do with the charcoal canister. The car runs great. No prob filling tank slowly. Have been told I need to replace the charcoal canister. Would I need to replace the whole thing or is there another remedy?

Not the cannister but the vent control valve or solenoid
will allow you to fill faster
code refers to EVAP system

SOURCE: overheat 2001 hyundai tiburon

Only 2 parts remaining are the thermostat and waterpump. Always start with the thermostat when diagnosing an overheating problem. If the car is overheating constantly under all conditions and coolant is backing up into the reservoir, it's very likely to be the thermostat. If it only overheats at low speed or idling, it's more likely the waterpump.

First GUESS.. replace the charcoal canister after you have cleaned out the hoses between it and the canister. Then blow air between the purge control solenoid valve and the fuel tank.

Manual for Accent 1.5 2001 says do not top up the gas tank. Why? did not know this and then after I filled up the check engine light came on and then went off and then came on again. What is happening? I...

The vehicle is equipped with an evaporitive emissions system consisting of a charcoal canister which absorbs fuel/galoline vapors when you fill the tank. This charcoal canister is at a level below the height of the fuel filler tube. When you fill the tank up to the filler tube neck, it is actually forcing liquid fuel into the canister and over-saturating the charcoal (which restricts the air flow and can clog the system to the point air can't pass through it). This system is monitored by an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic II) routine/test which checks the system for proper opeation. There is a valve called the PCSV (purge control solenoid valve) which, when the engine is running, applies a pulsating vacuum to the hose/line which goes to the canister and sucks the vapors that were trapped in the charcoal back to the engine where they are burned. After over-saturation of the charcoal in the canister, the charcoal (in the form of pellets) begin to crumble/disintegrate and will permanently clog/restrict air flow and the check engine light will come on again and the ECU (Engine Control Unit) will set an evaporative emissions code (P0447 or P0448 or P0445)

I have a 2001 Toyota Corolla Engine light on and stay When out side tempereture is cole. I pull out EFI fuse and put it back start engine and no Engine light over 70 deg. out side temp. It's come back in...

As with most cars today your car is fitted with a charcoal filled canister to trap fuel vapour emissions before they are released to the environment. In order to burn this temporarily stored vapour the engine computer opens a purge valve that is connected by a vacuum tube to the inlet manifold of the engine. The valve is only opened when the engine has warmed up. With the valve open outside air is drawn into and through the charcoal canister to carry the fuel rich vapours down the vacuum tube into the engine to be burnt. In your car the purge valve is being left open permanently and this means your car is struggling with all the extra air entering the engine. Solution: find the tube connected between the inlet manifold and the charcoal canister and disconnect it and block both open ends temporarily (duct tape) so that nothing can pass through it . This is only a temporary solution until you can replace or repair the faulty purge valve. When repaired open the vacuum tube connection again.

Can some one tell me where is Canister Purge Solenoid/Flow Sensor located in my 96 mazda b3000 truck? I have check engine light on, and auto zone guy give me this code P1443.

It is between the charcoal canister and the intake manifold. It is in a vac line, the same one as the canister purge solenoid. It real close to the battery. I might be able to post a pic if you can't find it.

2001 toyota 4runner< engine light on, code comes out to be - p0441 auto zone said change gas cap, i did, 2 weeks later light comes on again< what do you think?

You can get this code if you don't tighten the gas cap all the way, or the gas cap is bad. I will put all the detail for the code below and what I would do to fix the problem...

NOTE: Do not top off your tank either. This could cause the 'overfill check valve' to fail, and could cause this code.

Definition of P0441: Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect
Purge Flow

Detection logic:
DTCs P0441 and P0446 are recorded by the ECM when evaporative emissions leak from the emissions components
or when there is a malfunction in either the VSV for EVAP, the VSV for
pressure switching valve, or in the vapor pressure sensor itself.
detection cause: Pressure in charcoal canister and fuel tank does not drop or
drop in pressure increased beyond the specified limit during
purge control (2 trip detection logic)

What I would do:
1. Replace fuel cap and reset computer. If code returns, then proceed to next

The next steps require a diagram, so the purchase of service manual to locate the components is very helpful

2. Check for vacuum leaks in ALL emission hoses
3. Check VSV valve operation (there are three; they are ~$75 new from dealer, and sometimes fail)
4. Check for cracks or leaks around or in the charcoal canister (usually requires a smoke machine)
5. check for voltage to VSV's
6. Last resort: take it to the dealer and have them run a diagnosis. This should run between $50-$100.

Good luck!

YEP HAVE IT SCAN AT AUTO ZONE OR ADVANCE AUTO THEY WILL DO IT FREE.SOUND LIKE YOU HAVE EVAPORATIVE EMISSION PROBLEMS DUE TO UNCONTROLLABLE GAS VAPORS BUILDING UP PRESSURE IN GAS TANK NOT ALLOWING YOU TO PUMP GAS.SOUND LIKE THE PURGE SOLENOID VENT TO CHARCOAL CANISTER NOT VENTING OR WORKING. IF YOUR CODE TURN OUT TO BE PURGE SOLENOID REPLACE IT.CHECK FUSE GOING TO SOLENOID FIRST BEFORE BUYING ANOTHER ONE.

Toyota T100 OBDII Code P0450 - Pressure Sensor Malfunction

P0450 deals with the Vapor Pressure Sensor, in the fuel tank vapor circuit. Buying a charcoal canister would not cure this.
Go to a Toyota dealer and tell the parts guy that you want a
Vapor Pressure Sensor.
It is on the vapor line, before the charcoal canister.

After you replace the sensor, remove the EFI fuse to clear the code.

I hope that this answers your question.
