This is a common problem.
After many hours of internet research, I stumbled upon the only repair suggestion that sounded reasonable to me.
I performed the repair and it was successful.
I now have odometer and prnd321 lights.
There are four small resistors on the upper right section of the instrument cluster circuit board (just to the left of the tripmeter reset).
The solder connections of these resistors become corroded over time. Three fell to floor when I ran my finger over them.
I replaced the four resistors with 1/2 Watt 150 ohm resistors (soldering skills are required).
Thank you so much. this fix worked just fine. I got the resistors from Radio Shack, 5 for $1.89. They were physically bigger, but after I bent and clipped the leads, they soldered in nicely. I used silver solder and sivlver solder flux. barely touched the leads with the soldering iron and it was done. thats a good thing because I was concerned with melting the circuit board.
Thank-you Verry much,I got the resistors frm radio shack and is workin fantastic, agen thank u
Sergio, I have a buick century 1999, I had the same problem, I was not able to see the mileage of my car, what I did is: I replaced the 4 resistors already mentioned in this website, I did buy those at radio shack, 1/2 watt, 150 ohm resistors, now I can see the miles meter, everything is back to normal.
I want to thank GOD for creating wonderful persons like you, that help other people to solve problems for less money, and I want to thank all of you who share the solutions for many problems of different kind. thanks and have a great day
I forgot something very important, when you weld the resistors to the circuit board, please weld those in order, what do I mean? those resistors come with lines of colors, white, red, blue etc. if you weld the first resistor with the color red to the right of the resistor, just follow the same patter, make sure all the resistors are in line with the same color, in few works match the colors that appear on the resistors, weld them in that order, if the resistor has red, white, blue, weld the next one the same way, everything in order, this worked for me.

This fixed mine :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84FAjLxoK00
It can be replaced (just the LED part, not necessary to replace whole console) at the dealer. Cost: roughly 400 to 500 Canadian $.

Sadly no, there is no fuse or bulb to replace. You either have to send the instrument cluster out for repair or replace it with a new unit from the dealer. You could also obtain a serviceable one from a salvage yard. Most shops should be able to replace the instrument cluster or advise who can repair it.

My 98 buick century's odometer also does not illuminate, neither does the register display for the gearshift.
Same
I have no light on the transmission gears and 3 buttons on my radio. My fuel tank gage hasn't worked for a while, so now I don't know how many miles I have till I need to fill the tank.
i have the same problem too
Odometer does not display, any fixes out there?
I have a used 2000 Buick Century and the transmission gear indicator and odometer LCD is Blank. Could this be a fuse or wiring issue or LCD is inop? If so, what should I look at?
I have the same problem in my 1999 Century. I cannot see the PRNDL or my odometer.
I have a 2000 Buick Century and for a while the odometer/tripometer and PND321 panel would light up sometimes and then go out now it is out completely. I did notice that when I held down the tripmeter reset button that it lit up just briefly and is continuing to correctly gauge mileage. Anyone know what the problem is and if so a rough estimate on repair?
I have a 200 Century and the odometer does not iluminate and the gas guage reads full all the time.
