Check engine light stays on continously. Need to download a 1999 VW Jetta GL. Was told PI225 NODTC Svc Manual........Possible problems in P1225....P1227....P1228....P14451....P1421....P1425....P1472. Unfamilar with these #'s. Whefre can I get a manual? Bought car 3 weeks ago.........Thx!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive batter connector and let it sit for atleast 5mins. before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and can get your vehicle back to it's normal operation.

If there is no dipstick, chances are you have what is known as an 01M transmission. The fluid CAN be changed, but it is a bit more involved than normal. I STRONGLY suggest you read the Bentley manual or better yet, Google "Dan's VW page". Good Luck

EPC means Electronic Pedal Control. Fly-by-wire for your gas pedal--instead of a mechanical cable that pulls an accelerator linkage on the engine, there's an electronic device on the gas pedal, an electronic device on the throttle body and a wire between them.
You should check the sistem with diagnostic tool.

Daisymoses... I am having the same issue with the same car and I have been fighting with VW about this problem and they admitted to the 2.5 engine having problems. Have you heard anything?

Try changing the fuel filter.

Engine need service or a faulty sensor, change oil and filter check sensors, if looks good, do not worry about it.

timing belt marks

My manual for '93-'98 models calls for a timing belt replacement every 60K, and the engines are the same for earlier models, VW didn't do much different to them during that time.

check the torque converter
