I'm from Spain, I have a 1992 GTI 2.0 Petrol Golf, on car start, also in first gear and when I stop the car in lights the car seems to accelarate or go to higher revolutions by itself, like if someone was pushing the gas pedal. I think it has to be to the mechanism that controls the fuel. I hear this is maybe some tube that is dirty or something, if is the case I would like to avoid a hefty mechanic bill and do it myself if is not that difficult. If is the case of a tube, I would like to know where it is and how to proceed...I have a Haynes manual now, but it doesn't tell where it is. Also my car seems to overheat (100-110 grades) when going uphill and I have to stop several times to avoid braking the car. Thanks

Yes their is a tube as you call it on the older models ,this is one of the first of the full multipoint injection with a catalytic convertewr to comply with the europeon regulations brought in for that year ,now later ones had a stepper motor for the idle ,but this one --i think-- has a adjuster screw for the mixture on idle which i think is the tube being refered too.Its a bosch system and i beleave it has a breather tube from the engine to teh inlet manifold and this could need cleaning as well ,same old story i work on all these cars but cannot remember every thing about a particular model as they often and do change every few months in manufacture. Now as for the overheating this could be anything and without head under bonnet then its difficult to say but i would plump for head gasket failure as they do on these cars after so long and it may even need doing a second time around.Make sure you only use antifreeze mix and not just water as this cause problems in itself .

Buying Golf GTI from Spain using http://www.logistica-tercia.com

I would be very weary. This isnt a exotic or rare car. Caveat emptor, Let the buyer beware. Why buy a car that you've never seen or driven, when you can. This would be diffrent if it was a one off rare car, but Volkswagon made thousands of these right here. This is a buyers market and if thats what you want find one right here. If you look in the right place you can get a Porsche for what you would pay for the Golf and shipping. Good Luck, and don't forget to vote.

Noisey Clutch accelarating in 1st and 2nd gear

Sounds like its not sticking to the flywheel instantly but skippng a little bit and the squeek could be the clutch plate springs groaning. If the clutch and flywheel have been used hard it could have a heat glaze on it that resists grip Probably need to get flywheel machined when you eventualy change the clutch.
