How to Remove a Stabilizer Link in a VW Passat car?

The instructions to replace the Stabilizer Link in a car is follows:-- 1) First of all make sure the vehicle is completely cool. Then disconnect the battery ground wire.
2) Isolate the removed battery ground wire to avoid accidental contact with the terminal during the procedure.
3) Then place the vehicle on a rack or raise the front of the vehicle on supports.
4) Then remove the front wheels and tires.
5) Then carefully loose the fasteners that hold the ends of the sway bar.
6) Then remove the nuts and bolts from the brackets.4
Then remove the stabilizer (sway) bar from the vehicle.
NOTE:-- While removing the stabilizer bar be very careful that no proximate cables get caught on the bar and pulled out.
That is all.the Stabilizer Bar and Links are removed. This will help.Good luck.

Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement Removal Procedure Tools Required J 43828 Ball Joint Separator
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the stabilizer shaft link. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  4. Remove the wiring harness from the lower control arm.

  6. Remove the cotter pin (1) from the ball joint (3).
  7. Remove the nut (4) from the ball joint (3).

    Notice: Use only the recommended tools for separating the ball joint from the knuckle. Failure to use the recommended tools may cause damage to the ball joint and seal.
  9. Remove the ball joint from the steering knuckle using the J 43828 .

  11. Remove the lower control arm front (1) and rear (4) mounting bolts.
  12. Remove the lower control arm (1) from the vehicle and place in a vice.
  13. Drill out the 3 rivets (3) retaining the ball joint to the lower control arm (2).
  14. Use a 3 mm (1/8 in) drill bit in order to make a pilot hole through the rivets.
    Finish drilling the rivets with a 13 mm (½ in) drill bit.
  15. Remove the ball joint (4) from the control arm (2).
Installation Procedure

  1. Install the ball joint (4) into the control arm (2).
  2. Install the 3 ball joint bolts (3) and the nuts (1). Follow the instructions in the ball joint kit. Tighten the ball joint bolts (3) according to the specifications in the instructions.

  4. Install the lower control arm (2) to the front suspension support (1)
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
  6. Install the lower control arm front (5) and rear (4) mounting bolts.
  7. Tighten • Tighten the front bolt to 107 N·m (79 lb ft). • Tighten the rear bolt to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).

  8. Install the lower ball joint stud (3) to the steering knuckle (2).
  9. Install the ball joint stud (3) through the steering knuckle (2).
  10. Install the ball joint nut (4).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the ball joint nut to 55 N·m (41 lb ft) plus 180 degree rotation minimum-65 N·m (50 lb ft) plus 180 degree rotation maximum to install the cotter pin.
  12. Install the wiring harness to the lower control arm.
  13. Install the cotter pin (1).
  14. Install the stabilizer link to the lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  15. Install the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  16. Inspect the front wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications in Wheel Alignment.

I have replaced the stabilizer links on my 2008 Pontiac G6 base model and I cant find the torque specs for the nuts.

Stabilizer Links

Removal & Installation

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the stabilizer shaft.
  4. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the strut assembly and remove from the vehicle.

To install:
  1. Connect the stabilizer link to the strut assembly.
  2. Tighten the stabilizer link nut to 48 ft. lbs. (65 Nm).
  3. Connect the stabilizer link to the stabilizer shaft.
  4. Tighten the stabilizer link nut to 48 ft. lbs. (65 Nm).
  5. Install the front tire and wheel assembly.
  6. Lower the vehicle.

Removal & Installation

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel.
  3. Remove the stabilizer shaft nut from the link bolt.
  4. Remove the stabilizer shaft link bolt.
  5. Remove the stabilizer shaft link insulators and spacers.
  6. Remove the oil pan skid plate, if equipped.
  7. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulator bracket bolts.
  8. Remove the stabilizer shaft bracket.
  9. Remove the stabilizer shaft.
  10. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulators.
  11. Inspect all of the parts for wear and damage.

To install:
  1. Install the insulators to the stabilizer shaft.
  2. Install the stabilizer shaft.
  3. Install the brackets over the insulators and the stabilizer shaft.
  4. Install insulator bracket bolts and tighten to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
  5. Install the stabilizer shaft link insulators and spacers.
  6. Apply Loctite® on the threads of the stabilizer link bolts then install the bolts.
  7. Install the stabilizer shaft nut to the link bolt and tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm), and continue to tighten the nut until 2-4 threads protrude above the nut.
  8. Install the oil pan skid plate, if equipped.
  9. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
  10. Remove the safety stands
  11. Lower the vehicle.

Front
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
3. Remove the stabilizer shaft link nuts from the stabilizer shaft.
4. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulator clamps from the front crossmember.
5. Remove the stabilizer shaft from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the stabilizer shaft, insulator clamps and bolts to the crossmember.
2. Install the stabilizer shaft links to the stabilizer shaft.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the stabilizer shaft link nuts.
- Tighten the stabilizer shaft link nuts to 72 Nm (53 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator clamp bolts.
- Tighten the stabilizer shaft insulator clamp bolts to 58 Nm (43 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
6. Lower the vehicle.



Stabilizer Bar: Service and Repair
Rear
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
3. Remove the stabilizer shaft link nuts from the stabilizer shaft.
4. Remove the stabilizer shaft clamps, bolts and nuts retaining the shaft to the crossmember.
5. Remove the stabilizer shaft from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the stabilizer shaft to the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator clamps to the stabilizer shaft and the crossmember.
- Tighten the stabilizer shaft insulator clamp bolts to 65 Nm (49 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the stabilizer shaft insulator clamp nuts to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the stabilizer shaft links to the stabilizer shaft.
- Tighten the stabilizer shaft link nuts to 72 Nm (53 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
5. Lower the vehicle.
