1984 Porsche 944 Questions & Answers
Hi my name is james
check crank sensor, this may be your problem. if it is bad it will not send correct info to pcm.
How do you bleed the hydraulic clutch on 1984 944
924 has cable operated clutch. When the cable on mine broke pedal went straight to the floor, hydraulic usually much slower to get to floor. Cable is an easy replacement. bleeding hydraulic usually done from nipple on slave cylinder (near release arm on clutch housing.
Starts, but why (does it have) very, very slow idle and then stops after a minute or two?
Check the idle air control valve, also check your throttle body plate and make sure it is clean, same with the iac ( idle air control) valve and seat. Then retry tests again. If it has an egr clean the system out too there is a pintle valve and seat that can be stuck open, clean those and reinstall. Before installation test the egr (exhaust gas recirculation) valve to make sure the pintle is sealing against the seat inside the chamber of the valve assembly. Also a cam sensor helps time fuel trim. I hope im not confusing another style engine. If the car is in front of me or if you posted an engine picture, I wouldnt have have to think back so hard in time to remember engine systems to help.
Ecu location, no fire, no nothing turns over thats it.
not necessarily
it could be a flat battery in the fob key for the immobilizer
could be problem cam/crank position sensors
could be bad connections in the harness
best have the fault codes read before you waste money chasing the fault
'84 Porsche 944. Are the CV joints bad?
Any CV joint that knocks while driving straight will be dangerously worn out. Most Cv joints make noise on sharp corners. This vehicle should be a rear wheel drive and if equipped with Cv joints will be in the rear. If it knocks over rough roads/bumps I would look at stabilizer links/bushings for wear and possibly the source of your noise if you are confident it is not from the engine
