Have a 1995 saturn sl

When you turn the key to 'run' does the service engine light come on. This would tell you that the PCM has power. The light should come one, go off, and then come on solid if you just turn the key to run and don't try to start it. This would indicate that the fuel pump signal is good.

If all of this is fine then remove the ignition module and have it tested. Auto Zone will do this for free. If the module is good then remove the crank position sensor and have it tested.

I have a 1995 Saturn SL1. It was running on 3

Have you resistance checked the injectors. If the resistance is wrong the pcm will shut the injector drivers down.

Engine cuts out while driving

Hi,
If your engine just stalls unexpectedly while driving, read the instruction below to troubleshoot it...

Stalls like this are often ignition-related and happen when the engine loses spark. The underlying cause is often a bad crankshaft position sensor, or sometimes a failing ignition coil (if the engine has only one coil). A faulty ignition switch that loses contact intermittently may also cause the engine to suddenly die for no reason.
When this happens, open the hood and check for spark. This can be done by pulling off a plug wire (if the engine has plug wires), and placing the end near the block while a helper cranks the engine. DO NOT hold the wire as it may shock you if the ignition system is working. If you do not see a spark or hear the plug wire snapping when the engine is cranking, the fault is in the ignition system.
If the engine has spark, it may have died due to a loss of fuel pressure. When fuel pumps fail, they usually just quit with little or no warning. The engine usually won't restart and the vehicle has to be towed in for repairs. Listen for a buzz from the vicinity of the fuel tank when the ignition is turned on. No buzz means the fuel pump isn't running. It might just be a blown fuse or a bad relay, but on a high mileage vehicle it's often a bad fuel pump.
Another possibility is a bad PCM (engine computer) relay. The power supply to the PCM is often routed through one or two main power relays. If one of these relays loses contact momentarily, it's like pulling the plug on the PCM. The PCM shuts down and turns off the ignition and fuel injectors, causing the engine to stall. One way to see if this is a possibility is to switch or replace the PCM power relay(s). If the problem goes away, the cause was a bad relay. If it continues, the fault is something else (possible a wiring fault in the PCM relay or PCM power circuit).
Yet another possibility is low system voltage, loss of voltage, or overcharging. The PCM and other control modules require a steady 12 volts to operate correctly. If the supply voltage suddenly drops below 9 volts, or surges about 16 volts, or cuts out, the PCM may temporarily kill the injectors or ignition circuit. The underlying cause may be an intermittent short somewhere in the electrical system or charging system that causes a momentary drop or surge in voltage. These can be very difficult to find, and often require hooking up a scan tool that can capture snapshot data when the stall occurs. By looking at the data, a technician can see the chain of events that caused the stall, and hopefully identify, isolate and repair the fault.

I need a new alternator for my 95 SC1. Is a new

autozone does not sell new alternators-the likelyhood of finding a BRAND NEW alt is very unlikely-almost anywhere you shop-even the dealer-they are all remanufactured alternators.i would advise getting one from auto zone-aside from my previous experiences(3 alternators on same vehicle in 1 year)i have not heard good things from bigger parts from autozone-esp electrical parts

Squealing

Most likely the fan belt or altenator belt, open the bonnet / hood and see if you can see the belts moving round, does it seem to get louder when you rev the engine? and then stop at times if so then 99% its the fan belt. if it still persits it could be the water pump so take a look under the car to see if any water is dripping out, if it is the water pump dont use the car as it could destroy the engine.

Hope that helps

Im just trying to find

On some vehicles there is a small plate under the back seat that allows you to get to the pump and replace it. If not you are going to have to drop the tank out to get a new fuel pump in. Its not a hard job if you take your time and have a friend help lower the tank if needed.Damn things a heavy and awkward with fuel in them. Good luck.

I have a question well

Yes it can be faulty or near to faulty starter,it has to be checked and replaced, but you can get the voltages checked at starter connections,There should be 12 volts. The starter connected to the battery,Also check the voltage of the battery,if the battery voltage is low then it will not give proper power to starter to turn over ,also check the connection between starter and battery, ifd the connection is loose it can be the issue.Remove the battery to starter connection and clean the connection and reconnect it and recheck. As you have taken it to the shop they must have tried this, but if not then get this possibilities checked before replacing the starter motor and its connections. ----------

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation

Located below the A/C compressor, it has the lower radiator hose attached to it and is held on by (2) 10mm bolts. You can change it with the A/C compressor installed, but will find it easier with the A/C compressor loose and out of the way.

How to a fix a

Unplug the connector wire and jumper the battery directly to it using an old extension cord. If it blasts, your problem is not the horn and the relay or switch should be checked. If it does not sound with 12 volts put to it call around to junk yards and see if they have any saturns 91-99. If so, buy a working used horn and swap them and you are in business. It hangs on a bracket more or less under the left head light assembly. Folks are also selling old saturns part by part on craigslist and ebay.
