loose pulley , worn belt are the usual things that cause this

TQF transmission fluid ,if in doubt use the use the same as a ford from the same model a lincoln ,ford mondeo as they are all the same car with a different skin

Have your anorobic switch on the diesel checked; it most likely is clogged; also water filter can cause this

This sounds like the fuel pump if you can get a gauge their is a connection on the fuel rail to check the pressure.

did you check the fuel tank perhaps someone has placed a ping pong ball in it etc or some sort of contaminant is blocking the flow also check the inline filters by replacement

It is allot of work you need to drop your fuel tank

Most likely the fan controller that is mounted on the fan shroud.

replacement is the same as replacing any front/first exhaust box in any car.

if there is also black smoke coming out the exhaust - and the problem is intermittent - then it's the EGR valve - it sticks open - will need replacing.... Happened to mine this morning and this is what the Jaguar Assistance guy said. Mine is a 2006 2 litre X-type.

Remove the door inner trim and check that the water proof plastic is sealed around all the openings in the metal. Check the drain holes under the door outside the rubber seal. Check and adjust the door to touch the seal all the way around.

You must perform the diagnostics for the code and then select which comp[onent is defective, the part itself, the wiring to it or the control module.

I had the same problem (X-type 2.0d 2004). The stutter was cured on mine by getting the ECU fashed with the latest firmware. This is a known problem and the update does cure it (£28), I didn't bother with all the tests the garage wanted to.
The noisey engine at idle is the alternator belt. It resonates at idle and causes the noise, There is a modified bottom pulley, tensioner and belt kit, but it is rather expensive ~£200 plus fitting (around 4 hours labour). Mondeo's have the same problem but that kit doesn't fit the Jag.
